Carterville Mastermind Group: Sustaining Long-Term Success

The Marion Chamber of Commerce and the Carterville Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to host the first 2018 Mastermind Group on Fridays from 8:15 - 9:30 a.m., beginning January 12 and ending March 9 (9 weeks), at Irons in the Fire Event Center (above Crown Brew Coffee Co.) in downtown Carterville.

“Change your habits change your life” is a popular saying but which habits lead to your sustained long-term success? This Mastermind Group will use Brad Lomenick’s book “H3 Leadership” to focus on developing the right daily habits and routines that build success for us as individuals and leaders of others.

This group is limited to the first 15 enrollments. The enrollment fee of $125 for Marion & Carterville Chamber members ($135 for non-Chamber) fee includes a book and is due before January 8. February Monthly Membership Luncheon

REMINDER: NO MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON WILL BE HELD IN JANUARY. 

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Monthly Membership Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at noon at Celebrations Event Center (click for directions).

The speaker will be then Mayor Anthony Rinella.

St. Nicholas Brewing Company will be the caterer. The menu will include chicken salad sandwich and vegetarian lasagna.

Artstarts is the sponsor of the February Monthly Membership Luncheon.

Registration for the event is $12 (payable to the Marion Chamber of Commerce) to those who RSVP prior to noon on the Monday before the luncheon. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. After noon on the Monday before the luncheon, no more registrations will be taken, however walk-ins will be accepted. Please note that the walk-in rate is $15.  

If you register for an event and are unable to attend, a 24-hour notice is required or you will be invoiced. Note: If you have registered and are unable to attend, you may transfer to a fellow employee without penalty. A refund will only be given to those with a paid registration who cancel more than 24 hours prior to the event. 

If any Marion Chamber of Commerce member would like to have fliers for an upcoming event, announcements, etc. given to each attendee at the luncheon, please contact the Chamber at 618.997.6311 to arrange for delivery of the fliers prior to the luncheon.

You are invited to attend the Southern Illinois Chambers of Commerce Boards of Directors New Board Member Training on Tuesday, February 20 at the Herrin Civic Center (101 South 16th Street, Herrin, IL). The event will begin at 5 p.m. sharp.

The event will feature a free dinner that includes chicken marsala, whipped potatoes, Italian tossed salad, dinner rolls, iced tea, water, and chocolate sheet cake. 

The facilitator of the training will be Bob Kelsheimer, who is a senior energy strategist for Affordable Gas & Electric. Bob enjoyed a 12 year career as the Executive Director for the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce. Bob is a past member of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois, the Belle-Scott Committee, Belleville Chamber of Commerce Board Member, President Centralia Rotary Club, founder and event chairman for Centralia's Balloon Fest, and a board member of Centralia Industries, Inc.
 
This event is RSVP only. ALL RSVPs must be received by 4 p.m. on February 16. Since some board members may be on multiple Chambers of Commerce Boards, please ONLY RSVP through ONE Chamber of Commerce. RSVPs cannot be accepted after 4 p.m. on February 16 and there are no exceptions.

Free Seminar on How to Protect Assets from Probate and Long Term Care Expenses

SI Elder Law, LLC will host a free seminar on how to protect assets from probate and long term care expenses at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, at the Pavilion of the City of Marion.
 
Attendees will learn how to protect the assets they have today and what they leave their children and grandchildren from probate, Medicaid, lawsuits, second marriages, nursing home expenses, divorce and death taxes.


The seminar is presented by SI Elder Law Attorneys Tiffanny H. Sievers, Evan W. Taylor and Elisha S. Deen.

One of the most powerful things that developing leaders and other success-seekers can take away from the world of sports and athletic achievement is the effectiveness of positive thinking. Join Dr. Jamie Clark Verbeck and Russell Williams for a discussion on creating a positive mindset for success and how doing so cultivates successful teams and organizations. Dr. Verbeck is director of Counseling and Psychological Services at SIUC Student Health Services and head coach for the Marion High School Varsity Girls Soccer team.
