Carterville Mastermind Group: Sustaining Long-Term Success

The Marion Chamber of Commerce and the Carterville Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to host the first 2018 Mastermind Group on Fridays from 8:15 - 9:30 a.m., beginning January 12 and ending March 9 (9 weeks), at Irons in the Fire Event Center (above Crown Brew Coffee Co.) in downtown Carterville.

“Change your habits change your life” is a popular saying but which habits lead to your sustained long-term success? This Mastermind Group will use Brad Lomenick’s book “H3 Leadership” to focus on developing the right daily habits and routines that build success for us as individuals and leaders of others.

This group is limited to the first 15 enrollments. The enrollment fee of $125 for Marion & Carterville Chamber members ($135 for non-Chamber) fee includes a book and is due before January 8. Contact Russell Williams at russell.williams@brehm.org or 618-694-6586 to secure a seat or for more information.

Mastermind Group: Sustaining Long-Term Success

The Marion Chamber of Commerce will host the first 2018 Mastermind Group on Mondays from noon to 1:15 pm January 8 - March 12 (8 weeks with no meetings on MLK Jr. Day and Presidents' Day) at Heartland Regional Medical Center Classroom 1 (downstairs) except for February 26 when the group will meet in Classroom 2.

Sister City Cultural Exchange Program informational meeting

The City of Marion in partnership with the Marion Chamber of Commerce will be selecting adults and students to participate in a weeklong trip to Kanie, Japan, August 2 - 7. The estimated cost of the trip will be approximately $2,000 for airfare plus spending money for students and $2,500 for airfare, hotel and spending money for adults. Application deadline is March 1, 2018. Should you need additional time for getting your application submitted, please contact Jared Garrison at (618) 993-2657 or Jared@ThePavilionEvents.com. March Monthly Membership Luncheon

NOTE: RSVPs are now due by Friday, March 9 at noon! 

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Monthly Membership Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at The Pavilion. Lunch service begins at 11:45 a.m.

The speaker will be Williamson County Commissioner Jim Marlo.

Great Boars of Fire will be the caterer. The menu will include two garlic rubbed chicken breasts, twice baked potatoes, green beans and sheet cake. 

Ameren Illinois is the sponsor of the March Monthly Membership Luncheon.

Registration for the event is $12 (payable to the Marion Chamber of Commerce) to those who RSVP prior to noon on the FRIDAY before the luncheon. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. After noon on the Monday before the luncheon, no more registrations will be taken, however walk-ins will be accepted. Please note that the walk-in rate is $15.  

If you register for an event and are unable to attend, a 24-hour notice is required or you will be invoiced. Note: If you have registered and are unable to attend, you may transfer to a fellow employee without penalty. A refund will only be given to those with a paid registration who cancel more than 24 hours prior to the event. 

If any Marion Chamber of Commerce member would like to have fliers for an upcoming event, announcements, etc. given to each attendee at the luncheon, please contact the Chamber at 618.997.6311 to arrange for delivery of the fliers prior to the luncheon.

The March Lunch & Learn will be held on March 21 from noon - 1 p.m. at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Classroom 1. The topic will be "Work/Life Balance."

The March Lunch & Learn will be presented by Tom Harness -  Owner of Harness Digital Marketing, Beth Harness - Senior Cardiovascular Sales Specialist with Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Rocio Reyes Williams - Pastor of New Burnside/Taylor United Methodist Churches, and Russell Williams. Being a Business Owner or Community Leader is not only stressful for the individuals, but it can be challenging for those family members around them. In our panel discussion, we will address some of those challenges and some solutions to help those in attendance take back and implement in their personal lives. This session will follow up with a brainstorm session of other possible solutions those in attendance have implemented in their own personal lives.

Southern Illinois Wellness

Women for Health and Wellness is a non-profit organization that has been know over the last 31 years for their Women's, Men's and Teen conferences.  This year they have gone through re-branding and have merged these 3 events together into a Mega Expo.  Southern Illinois Wellness Expo will take place on 3/24/18 from 7am- 2pm.  There will be over $300 worth of Health Screenings available to those that attend for no cost.  The only cost is the $10 admission ticket for those that are 18 and over. Kids are free.  This event is for all ages.

8th annual Marion Chamber Foundation Bass Tournament

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation is sponsoring the 8th annual two-person Bass Tournament at Pyramid Acres Marina on Sunday, March 25. The event is a fundraiser for the Marion Chamber Foundation. 

The tournament fee is $70 per team and optional $10 for Big Bass at 100% pay back. Entries will be limited to the first 150 teams. 

30% of the entry fees will go toward the Marion Chamber Scholarship Program. The Marion Chamber of Commerce currently offers two scholarships: John A. Logan College Two Year Tuition Waiver and a Grad Spree Scholarship. The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation awards these scholarships based on the amount of money generated by the fundraising efforts from the previous year.

Southern Illinois Regional Chamber Luncheon

The Southern Illinois Regional Chamber Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Carterville Community Center, 120 North Greenbriar Road. 

Registration is $15. Registration and payment required by March 22 at 4 p.m. No payments will be accepted at the event. Registration is nonrefundable. 

The program will include a presentation about Southern Illinois Made Expo by Senator Dale Fowler and a presentation about the Illinois Bicentennial Celebration by Illinois Bicentennial Commission Co-chair Randy Dunn.

Please join us for an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Marion Fire Department, 204 North Court Street, Marion, on Thursday, March 29.
