Welcome to Sierra Cascade Nursery, Inc., a distinguished leader in the field of berry nursery stock with a rich history dating back to 1977. Founded as "Susanville Nursery" by Joe Jertberg and his son, Randy, our roots trace back to Joe's teenage years in 1935 when he began cultivating strawberries in Ontario, California. Joe's dedication to the industry was unwavering, evident in his remarkable 58-year journey as a pioneer in strawberry cultivation. Serving in the Navy during WWII, Joe diligently saved money, allowing him to acquire enough land after the war to pursue commercial berry farming.
In 1994, Susanville Nursery underwent a significant transformation, incorporating Sierra-Cascade Nursery Inc. (SCN). This change not only reflected the substantial growth of the company but also encompassed its expansion to multiple ranches. Today, SCN stands as an agricultural powerhouse with High Elevation ranches such as Bonanza and Merrill in Southern Oregon, Susanville, Tulelake, and Butte Valley in Northern California, alongside Low Elevation ranches including Manteca, Ballico, Delhi, Winton, and Livingston, strategically located along the east side of California's San Joaquin Valley. With an impressive 1,142 acres dedicated to berry nursery stock, Sierra Cascade Nursery Inc. has rightfully earned its reputation as a global leader and likely the largest berry nursery in the world.
