Established in 1969, Village Montessori School proudly holds the distinction of being the first Montessori school in the Sacramento area. For over five decades, we have been continuously serving our community, offering exceptional educational programs for toddlers through preschool and transitional Kindergarten. Owned and directed by Erin Auernig and Lisa Willis, Village Montessori is led by experienced professionals who oversee every aspect of the center's operation.
At Village Montessori, we embrace the Montessori Method, a proven educational approach designed specifically for children. The visionary behind this method, Maria Montessori, believed that children learn best through hands-on materials and active engagement with their environment. We share this philosophy wholeheartedly, recognizing that children are like sponges, eager to absorb everything around them. To facilitate their learning journey, we provide well-equipped classrooms and a team of dedicated teachers, creating a warm and caring Montessori environment for your child to flourish.
Nestled on one-and-one-half acres in Carmichael, our school campus offers a comprehensive learning space that includes a toddler classroom, an early childhood room, two preschool classrooms, and a transitional kindergarten. Moreover, our spacious outdoor playground, business office, and kitchen facilities add to the enriching experience. All our buildings are air-conditioned to ensure a comfortable learning environment, and we are proud to have a swimming pool, adding an extra dimension to the learning opportunities.
One of the cornerstones of Village Montessori's success is our exceptional staff. Many of our teachers have been with the school for an impressive 8 to 25 years, fostering a stable and nurturing learning environment. Each teacher at Village Montessori is Montessori certified through the National Center for Montessori Education, affiliated with the American Montessori Society. Furthermore, several teachers have completed early childhood education units and hold degrees from various local colleges. To ensure the highest quality of education, each classroom is supported by a qualified assistant with a minimum of 12 early childhood education units. Our staff is committed to continuous growth and professional development, actively participating in in-service training programs and workshops throughout the year.
In our classrooms, the emphasis is on learning rather than teaching. Our teachers play the role of enablers, diligently preparing and maintaining the environment to provide everything the children need within their reach. They act as positive and inspiring role models, guiding the learners towards self-study, independence, and self-confidence.
