The Sons of Norway is a Fraternal Benefit Society that was established in 1895 to preserve the best of the Norwegian heritage and culture. Mjosen Lodge was established in 1916
Mjøsen Lodge was organized in Glenwood on December 4, 1916. Since the lay of the land around Glenwood has a great resemblance to the parts of Norway around Lake Mjøsen (Mjøsa) north of Oslo, they named the Lodge Mjøsen. In 1948, Gemle Lodge # 174 from Starbuck (est. Nov 1916) merged with Mjøsen Lodge.
Mjøsen Lodge is apart of District 1 of the Sons of Norway and Zone 4. District #1 is comprised of 7 states including Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Texas
