About Us
We also feature regular guest artist presentations and seminars in our large, educational art room. A gallery of work from artist-in-residence, Emilie Nan Oglesby, and others from across the Southeast is on display. Special commission artwork to fill your hole in the wall at home is our specialty. So if you don't see it, ask!
Art has been my passion since I stepped into my first art class at 5 years old. Since then, it has taught me many lessons in life and guided me in directions I wouldn't have sought otherwise. In my own pursuit of the craft I've learned the importance of standing out in a crowd, patience in the accomplishment of my goals and eventually the path toward what I hope will be a life-long career.
As owner and operator of The Hole In The Wall, located in Monroeville, Alabama's historic downtown, I love everything art. Perhaps it is the application of a medium and the experimentation with supplies that fascinates me. Perhaps it is the challenge of telling the perfect story in watercolor, ink, oils, clay and even crayon. Above all else, it is witnessing the excitement in others as they begin crafting their own unique tales on canvas and paper.
In 2008, I earned a bachelor's degree in art from Auburn University and married Joseph Oglesby, councilman and small-business owner in Monroeville. (Yes, it was a busy year!) Together we've chosen to make our home in the town we grew up in and have filled it with love, laughter and the antics of two crazy cats – Atticus and Jean Louise – and two devoted dogs – Forrest and Lucy.
