They were married at the historic White Sulphur Springs Ranch and shared their stories with us so we could share them with you.
For many years White Sulphur Springs Ranch has been a community gathering spot for Plumas County residents who enjoyed swimming in the warm springs pool and picnicking while overlooking the Mohawk Valley.
For some, White Sulphur Springs Ranch meant so much that they decided to be married there. We wanted to celebrate those couples by encouraging them to share their stories with us so we could share them with you.
Beginning in February 2015 we asked couples to send in their stories and wedding photos.  Some brave couples took the plunge with the promise, of course, that the contest winners would receive a dinner for two along with a 2015 family membership in the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council.
As promised, on March 15, 2015, a drawing was held under strict contest rules and the winners selected.  The "Wedding Photo Contest" winners for 2015 are:

White Sulphur Springs Ranch Healthy Forest/Fuels Reduction Program

In 2012 the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council (MVSC) was awarded a planning grant from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, an agency dedicated to reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfires in the Sierras, to develop a fuels reduction plan for the White Sulphur Springs Ranch.

In order to develop this plan, the MVSC hired a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and a hydrologist to analyze hazardous fuels conditions on the property.  The RPF developed a timber harvest plan for the property and the hydrologist conducted surveys of the sensitive hydrological features on the property that will be protected during the fuels reduction work. The next step will be to seek implementation funds to reduce fuels on the property and to make the forest more resilient to wildfire.

The Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council (MVSC), stewards of historic White Sulphur Springs Ranch (WSSR), was awarded a grant from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy in 2011 to assess springs and other water features on the Ranch and to develop a plan to protect water quality.
The MVSC, in partnership with the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, conducted several years of water quality and quantity monitoring of springs at WSSR, so that these unique water features can be protected while restoring the property and warm springs pool back to historic uses and for the benefit of our community.
