AMERICAN PICKERS To Film In Ohio- Late June!!

Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team are excited to visit Ohio! They plan to film episodes of the hit series AMERICAN PICKERS in Ohio with filming scheduled for late June 2016.

AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on History. The hit show follows Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, two of the most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques--from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles, to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia.

As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank continue their mission to recycle America by rescuing forgotten relics and giving them a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about American history along the way. AMERICAN PICKERS is looking for leads and would love to explore your buried treasure. They are on the hunt
for characters with interesting and unique items. Some of what they look for: vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, early firefighting equipment, vintage musical equipment, automotive items, and clothing. They are always excited to find things they’ve never seen before and learn the story behind it.

If you or someone you know has a large, private collection send us your: name, phone number, location and description of the collection with photos to:
americanpickers@cineflix.com or call 855-old-rust.

NEW: HR NOW Council Corner!

There is a warm front coming and it is just about ready to heat up the radar screen for every business owner.

The Dept. of Labor just released the final ruling pertaining to FLSA overtime regulations.  Under the final rule the annual salary threshold for exempt positions will jump from $23,660 to $47,476 (or from $455 to $913 per week).  For highly compensated employees, the annual salary threshold raises from $100,000 to $134,004.  The new rules take effect on December. 1, 2016.  It is estimated that 134,000 employees in the State of Ohio will be impacted.

In addition, in the event you missed The Chamber Partnership luncheon that featured our “Help with Heroin” Symposium, it highlighted that most heroin addicts are people with jobs--accountants, lawyers, construction workers, nurses, and secretaries. In other words, they are people who go to work every day.   You may have an employee that is struggling with a drug issue and does not know where to go for help or is too embarrassed to ask for help in fear of losing their job.

Do you know what are the steps that you need to do to protect your business?  Does your company do drug testing and have drug policies in place?  Do you know what resources are available if your employee needs help?

The Chamber Partnership’s HR NOW platform and the HR Council can be a resource for you and your organization to help you navigate through the myriad of compliance and HR issues you may face.  Our enhanced membership level provides valuable access to comprehensive resources and reference library; containing Human Resources tools and information that every business needs to know.

Through the HR Council you will also have HR professionals that are available to limit some of the guesswork out of the many HR situations you may face.  Whether it be drug testing, drug policies, handbooks or other related items such as job descriptions and reclassification of your employees, your HR team can customize and design solutions based on your needs and assist with the implementation.

It is easy to sign up and start taking advantage of this new Chamber benefit.  Please feel free to e-mail the HR Council at ckoch@hrsystems.cc with any questions or if you would like for us to contact you.

Best Regards,

Connie Koch

The Chamber Partnership Hosts “Help with Heroin” Symposium on May 19th

On May 19, 2016, The Chamber Partnership Hosted the “Help with Heroin” Symposium at Stone Oak Country Club. With over 100 people in attendance, attendees learned first hand from Matt Bell, founder of Team Recovery, how being an addict impacted his employment and how he overcame addiction. In addition, Keith Walker, the founder of the "Heroin Steals the Future" campaign, Sheriff John Tharp, Robert Chromik, and Jennifer Moses from the Zepf Center, all spoke about how local businesses can take the right steps to help their employees overcome addiction.

With the Heroin Epidemic that is taking place, it is important for employers to understand what steps and resources are available to help employees that might be battling addiction. One new resource unveiled at the luncheon was the website www.helpwithheroin.com. This website is a great resource for anyone battling the addiction themselves or for individuals and businesses in need of resources in order to help.
