About Great Lakes Publishing
Great Lakes Publishing
The heart of creating a beautifully written and visually engaging story for the people we deeply value remains unchanged since my father launched the first magazine in 1972. While the digital revolution has transformed media and marketing, providing endless content in countless formats, the fundamentals of community publishing remain constant: a storyteller, an audience, and a sponsor.
We honor the spirit of our publishing heritage, but we must be ready to carry that community-focused passion and integrity forward. Or, as we like to say… “Cut Loose, Kid.”
— Lute Harmon Jr., President of Great Lakes Publishing
In December 1997, Cleveland Magazine celebrated its 25th anniversary, highlighting the origins of the city magazine. In the article "Cut Loose, Kid: The Birth of a City Magazine," Chairman Lute Harmon Sr. shared with writer Shari M. Sweeney the story behind the founding of Cleveland Magazine and Great Lakes Publishing.
