Looking for an easy way to support students and workforce development in Oconee County? Here is your chance!

Join the Chambers Education Committee on October 15th and 21st as we conduct mock interviews at Oconee County High School and North  Oconee High School.

With your participation in the Interview Oconee project, the  high school students can improve their communication skills in a setting which is foreign to most young people. Most of the students participating will be seeking admission to the Governors Honors Program, a summertime resident enrichment opportunity for Georgia High School students who demonstrate great knowledge and potential in their chosen academic areas.  Mirroring real life expectations, these students must not only excel in their subjects, but must compete for slots based on the results of personal interviews with panelists.  Your assistance may make all the difference for a student who possesses great knowledge, but is not familiar with interviewing techniques.

Oconee Chamber Annual Fall Festival to be held on October 19th

Now in its 39th year, the Oconee Chamber Fall Festival is known as a premiere Arts & Crafts festival. The festival is sponsored by BankSouth. With over 200+ booths and 30,000 in attendance, this one day festival is the largest arts & crafts venue in the area.

We invite you to come and enjoy a cool, crisp fall day in Historic Downtown Watkinsville, “The Artland of Georgia”. There are over two hundred craftsmen who come from all over the Southeast to sell their handmade works which include; jewelry, woodwork, photography, paintings, pottery, candles, and much more.

You can smell the funnel cakes, BBQ and fresh popped kettle corn in the air. Sit, relax and listen to the sounds of the local musicians. There are plenty of activities for the young and the young at heart; rock climbing wall, spider jump, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatable slides, mechanical bull ride, swing ride, and train rides. New this year are Zippy Pets, these are mechanical animals that you can ride on. Fun for all ages!

Admission is free along with free offsite parking. Climb on board a hayride when you park at either Harris Shoals Park or Southwire (located off Barnett Shoals Rd,) which will take you to and from the festival at no charge. Parking in both of these locations is free.

Pets are not allowed in the Festival area. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please plan accordingly.

The annual Scarecrow 5K Road Race and Fun Run are held earlier in the day. This year the Road Race is sponsored by Georgia Neurological Surgery & Comprehensive Spine. If you are interested in being a participant of the race or Fun Run, applications are available on our website CLICK HERE

The Oconee Chamber Fall Festival (Since 1974) will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Festival hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm.  For more information please contact The Oconee Chamber of Commerce at (706) 769-7947, email; jestess@oconeechamber.org.
