New Miss Payson Royalty 2012

On Saturday, April 21 ten young ladies were competing for a scholarship and  the title of Miss Payson.  After an evening of interviews, lifestyle and fitness, artistic epression,  presence and poise.  All of the girls looked beautiful and  did an excellent job that night.   After scores were totaled Stefani Dimond was crowned the new Miss Payson.   Stefani is the daughter of Joe and Wendy Dimond and is a Jr at Salem Hills High school.  Julia Waterman was crowned first attendant.  Julia is the daughter of Jack and Janet Waterman and is a Sophmore at UVU.  Nancy Pratt was crowned second attendant and is the daughter of Carl Pratt and Lauri Baadsgaard and is a Sr. at Payson High.  We are excited for these young ladies and look forward to having them join us at Ribbon Cuttings, Business of the Month and many other Chamber sponsored events.

Walmart , April's Business of the Month

Payson, Utah Wal-Mart Voted April 2012 Business of the Month!

Chamber of Commerce Members and The Community recognized Evan Ockey, Chief Manager and Employees of Payson Wal-Mart.Payson for excellent employee, customer and community service for over 8 years.

Wal-Mart received this well-deserved Chamber Award and Public Recognition on Tuesday, April 3rd,  Payson Wal-Mart, 1052 Turf Farm Road, Payson, Utah. 801.465.8246. walmart.com

"Evan Ockey, Manager of Payson Wal-Mart states, "Payson Wal-Mart first opened its doors back in January 2004 with about 250 employees. We currently have approximately 350 employees. We have learned so much from our community and are so proud to be welcomed as a striving business in Payson. We have knowledgeable and friendly associates ready to help customers with anything that they may need to help make life better. We keep our prices low to help you save money to live better.
Our associates love helping the community by doing many different volunteer programs which raise money for the community.

Some of the recent donations include recently donating $1,000 to the UVU Corn Maze; which gives scholarships to local students. We have also donated to the Youth Council which used the money to do Sub for Santa for families in our community. Last summer our store, along with some volunteers from nearby Wal-Marts, helped with the cleanup of the Hollow Park on 800 south. We've donated to the Mayors Literacy Program; which helps purchase books for children in the community and we've donated to several Elementary Schools, the Boy Scouts and the Lions Club in many ways. Every year around the end of February we have employees that volunteer to jump into Utah Lake to raise money to help the Special Olympics. This is called the Polar Plunge. The volunteers need to raise at least $50.00 each to jump into the ice covered lake. Yes, it is crazy to pay to jump into an ice covered lake but this just lets you know how much our employees love to help out with community service organizations. We also had our Payson Mayor Rick Moore participate in this year's Polar Plunge. We raised well over $1,000.00 this year just for the Polar Plunge.

Walmart, however, is not the only ones generous with donations. For example, our customers helped raise over $10,000.00 for Primary Childrens Hospital last year. We cannot express how thankful we are to everyone that donates during the Primary Childrens Marathon."
