President's Corner

Hi Everyone!

Slow week this week, being the last week of the month and many people are taking their last chance to enjoy a family vacation before school starts.  Hopefully to someplace cooler!

Here are a few things you should be aware of:

No August Luncheon, while so many people told us how much they enjoyed last month’s luncheon with speaker Pat McDermott from APS, they were also sharing they would be gone for the August luncheon and see us in September.  The staff and I will come up with something special for you for the September Luncheon.

B2B West Valley Expo Discount Pricing Expires July 31stSave yourself $50 and reserve your booth for the August 25th event at the Wigwam Resort from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.  Last year they had over 80 businesses showing and in excess of 400 people came through.  This year’s looks to be bigger and better.  The early price is only $175, click here to reserve your space.

The Chamber Networking Breakfast is on August 2nd at Brother’s Restaurant which starts at 7:30 am.  We have a few networking surprises for you in addition to two great presentations from Don Arbuckle from Arrowhead Cadillac and Gina Sheets from Banner Lakes Imaging.

Huntington University Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting is Tuesday August 2nd at 9:00 am following the breakfast. The President of Huntington University, Dr. Sherilyn Emberton, and Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat will be the featured speakers at the Ribbon Cutting. You’ll also have an opportunity to mingle with several City Council Members and some of our Chamber Board of Directors.  Rumor has it there will be tours of the completely remodeled Dolce Salon building to make it the very impressive Huntington University.

For anyone interested, the Chamber is having a more intimate Hiring Event on Wednesday August 3rd at the Chamber Office from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Our last one, in conjunction with the City of Peoria and Goodwill of Central Arizona held at Peoria High School, featured 36 Employers with 222 job seekers.  These Hiring Events are FREE to both the Employers and the Job seekers.  For more information, check out the flyer elsewhere in the newsletter.

On a personal note I want to congratulate the Peoria Police Department for not only the exceptional job they do, but also the wonderful relationship they have with the community.  I saw them on TV being honored and thanked by the community for they work they do.  I am so proud and happy to be a part of all these good things going on in Peoria.  It sure beats all the bad things we see constantly on the news.  Next time you have the chance, tell an officer what a great job they are doing.

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to call me at 623-979-3601 or

Congratulations SRP!
