President's Corner

What a fun event!  Last night’s Chamber Mixer at Lucidi’s Distillery was a great success with over 50 people attending.  I was very pleased to see several new faces who came to “check us out”.  I’m sure they left impressed with the fun we had and how welcome our members made them feel.  Thank you all for being your usual friendly selves.
We have started selling advertising spots in the new Peoria Chamber Membership Directory and Visitors Guide.  You can update your ad quarterly if you wish to.  20,000 copies will be printed and distributed throughout Peoria in hi-traffic locations each quarter.

Prices are for the full year and include full color: Full Page $560, Half Page $350, Quarter Page $219, Eighth Page $137 and a Sixteenth Page $86. Call Shelly Brooks at 623-876-2564 or just call the Chamber office and we’ll pass the message on to Shelly.
The $10 Million Shootout Golf Classic is rapidly approaching, so sign up your foursome right away. If you are looking for a way to get your business recognized and in the forefront of people’s minds, this is the way to do it.  Check out the details in the right hand column or call us at the Chamber Office.

New ADOT policy allows approved memorials along highways

Plan promotes safety for families, motorists and ADOT personnel

PHOENIX ‒ Recognizing the need of families to grieve in different ways for those killed in crashes, the Arizona Department of Transportation has established a policy allowing memorial markers along state-maintained highways in a way that minimizes risks for motorists, families and ADOT personnel.

Developed with input from community members, the policy specifies a maximum size and establishes standards for materials and placement so markers present less chance of distracting passing drivers or damaging vehicles leaving the roadway.

Best of the West Nominations Due Friday

WESTMARC is seeking nominations for its 24th Annual Best of the West Awards Dinner scheduled for Thursday, November 10th, at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
WESTMARC is accepting nominations in three categories: Economic Engine, Quality of Life Enhancement, and Excellence in Innovation. The deadline for nominations is 10 pm on Friday, September 2nd. Nominations can be submitted online at www.westmarc.org/pages/best-of-the-west-2016. The cost for each nomination is $25 for members and $50 for non-members.
“The Best of the West Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the image, lifestyle, and economy in the West Valley,” said Sintra Hoffman, WESTMARC’s President and CEO. “WESTMARC is proud to honor these outstanding individuals and organizations making a great impact on the West Valley.”
Nominations are sought for individuals, organizations, businesses, facilities or programs representing interests in the West Valley.

  • The Quality of Life Enhancement Award recognizes educational, community, arts and recreational programs, facilities, or leaders enhancing the quality of life in the West Valley.
  • The Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes individuals and organizations demonstrating an innovative concept or fulfilling a need that preserves the region’s assets and resources, and creates an economic benefit for West Valley residents.
In addition to the three annual awards, WESTMARC will also present awards for West Valley Inspiration in Leadership and West Valley Regional Advancement.
