President's Corner

Unfortunately, one of our favorite staff persons has left us.  Ruby Rojas decided to leave the Chamber last week.  We will miss her and wish her much success.

Thursday is our first PCC Rush.  A bunch of us are headed for the Twisted Italian to drop in for lunch at 11:30.  Come join in the fun – you’re going to eat lunch anyhow right??  All the details are in the column to the right.

I’m very pleased to report that we have secured Ron Sites, President/CEO of the Fighter Country Partnership from Luke Air Force Base as one of our guest speakers for the Wine & Cigars Charity event on November 4th.  There will be more surprises coming so watch for updates.

We Need Your Help!  We are looking for a piano player will to donate their time to play some background music for the Wine & Cigar event.  We are happy to promote their name or business name as a sponsor of Wine & Cigars.  Please call the Chamber office if you can help us out.

A special thank you to Mayor Cathy Carlat, Vice Mayor Bridget Binsbacher and Councilman Bill Patena for their generous support to the Chambers $10 Million Golf Classic.

If you have any comments or questions please do not hesitate to call me at 623-979-3601 or

Public Safety Night
Peoria’s Police and Fire-Medical Departments and Dignity Health will bring together family fun and safety education in one place for the 2016 G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizonans Involved in Neighborhoods) Public Safety Night on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Pioneer Community Park, 8755 N. 83rd Ave.

Kids of all ages will get the chance to see police cars, fire trucks, specialty emergency vehicles and equipment. Safety organizations will also be out with displays offering to show how to keep you and your family safe.

There will also be free bouncy activities, face painting and more, making this a great night for the whole family.

This event is free to all members of the community.

G.A.I.N. started in 1998 as a cooler weather alternative to National Night Out in the summer. The event is designed to bring the Peoria community together, promoting a safe and family friendly city. Everything at the event is free, so come out and meet the first responders in your area and gather information from a wide variety of safety providers from across the community. For more information about the G.A.I.N. event, please call 623-773-7099.

Applicants Wanted!

Glendale, AZ – Credit Union West is now accepting applications for their 2016-17 Young Adult Advisory Panel. The credit union is looking for highly motivated young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 to serve on the voluntary panel. Since 2013, each panel has collaborated on ideas for innovative products, services and strategies that appeal to their demographic.

“We have been very fortunate to work with some exceptionally bright high school and college students,” said Scott Grundy, VP, Chief Information Officer at Credit Union West. “These students represent our future members and community leaders, and giving them a voice in how we connect with them is important to develop long-lasting trust.”

This panel not only benefits the credit union, but those who make up the panel as well. The panelists receive useful financial knowledge and lessons, professional experience for their resumes, community contacts and much more. To download a copy of the application, please visit www.cuwest.org. The deadline to receive applications is Friday, October 21. For more information, please email evan.norris@cuwest.org.
