President's Corner

Hi Everyone!

Our first PCC Rush was a great success last week!  We had 9 members join us at Twisted Italian located at 9940 W. Happy Valley Road.  I spent some time chatting with owners Brian and Michelle Bojanowski and learned just what a small world it is – Brian and I are from the same town in the West Suburbs of Chicago (Lombard).  He went to the same high school as my wife and Michelle went to high school in the next town over where my mother in-law was one of the cafeteria ladies.

With Brian and Michelle being from the Chicago area, that will give you an idea very quickly at just how good their Italian cooking is.  I think we all had something different for lunch and everyone raved at how good their food was.  It reminded me of the Italian restaurants back in Chicago, where the family works in the business and the owners are out greeting and talking with the customers, creating a very friendly, family environment.  You need to go there soon – you won’t be disappointed!

If you haven’t noticed it in previous newsletters, we are doing a special Membership Drive where any member who refers a business who joins the Chamber receives a $50 Gift Card from ANY Chamber member business.

Here’s a great idea: bring us two businesses who join, split your gift card into two $25 cards and you’ll have 4 gift cards to use as gifts for your employees for the Holidays.  Brilliant, right?? AND is doesn’t cost you any money!

Just heard the great news that Chicago Pizzeria Giordano’s is planning on being open by the end of November.  If you’re not familiar with them, they are famous for their Chicago Deep Dish pizzas. They are going into the old Corner Bakery Café space just south of Bell Road on 83rd Avenue in the P83 Entertainment District.  I peeked in the window and besides a complete remodel to the inside, they look to be adding a huge patio area.  My mouth is watering at just the thought of those pizzas!

Our Ambassadors Committee has a meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:30 at the Chamber office.  We are really trying to grow this group, so if you like meeting people and want to be part of the first people to welcome our new members this is the committee to be on!  The meetings are only once a month and you’re probably going to the Ribbon Cuttings, Networking Events and Mixers anyway, so why not be on the committee?

Talk to you next week

Community Event

Firefighters' Holiday Toy Drive Too!

Peoria Firefighters Charities will kick off their 2016 holiday toy drive on Saturday, October 22.  The kick off is being held in conjunction with Councilmember Hunt's Community Shred Day.  The events run concurrently from 9 - 11:00 am in the parking lot at State Trailer Supply; 8200 W. Peoria Avenue, in Old Town Peoria.

Councilmember Hunt is hosting the free community shred event to help local residents protect their security.   Residents may bring documents to the event for free shredding; disposal will take place while you watch.

The 2016 Peoria Firefighter Charities (PFFC) holiday toy drive will begin during the Shred Event.  The State Trailer Supply Center is also home to one of Peoria's newest retailers - Final Clearance.  The retail outlet store currently has a full aisle of the popular toys and games - very convenient for those wishing to make a toy donation to PFFC.  All toy donations accepted by PFFC are used within the Peoria community when firefighters make deliveries during the holiday season.

Thanks to State Trailer Supply for their generous support by donation of space to host these October 22 events.
