Wow, this is the final newsletter and my final column for 2016! Where has the year gone? For me personally, 2016 has been one of the worst years in quite a while. The only bright spots came from the Peoria Chamber and all of you. Not only has your positive and friendly attitudes made my job a pleasure but also had major impact on new people attending our events.
It’s our members who have given the Peoria Chamber the reputation of being a warm and friendly group of people who are very welcoming to new faces. That’s why whenever someone mentions something at another Chamber they hear “you should try the Peoria Chamber, they are terrific!”. Thank you everyone, I’m proud to be working for you.
You’ve probably been contacted or heard the scuttlebutt of changes in the wind for our committee structure. Odds are you will be contacted to attend a meeting to share your ideas of what the Chamber can do for you and your business and what programs and events you believe will make the Chamber relevant to all businesses.
You’ve heard me talk about how the focus of the Peoria Chamber is on business and helping all Peoria businesses be successful – in whatever success means to them. Our Board of Directors has taken up the challenge of completely changing the culture of the Peoria Chamber to become more member centric; meaning it’s the members who determine what events and programs the Chamber should offer.
The first questions we ask ourselves before any decision is made are: Is it good for the members? How will this help their business? With these questions guiding our focus, we want our members to be a part of our plan for the future. If you are reached out to, please be candid in your response and better yet, jump on the bandwagon and help us make 2017 our best year ever!
I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s celebration, but please be safe. Watch out for the other guy because they might not be as sensible as you are. Happy New Year!
