Newborn Baby!

We would like to give a special shout out to our very own, Ashley Scott, who had her precious baby boy, Jacob Jonathan (JJ) Scott.

Jacob was born last Thursday, February 2nd and was 9 lbs, 14 ounces and 22 inches long.

Thank you Ashley for all that you have done for the Chamber and will continue to do upon your return. We wish you nothing but the best during this time off with your two little boys.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!

President's Corner

Hi Everyone!
Check the photo above to see the newest member to our Chamber Staff – he’s young but a real cutie!  JJ Scott is the newest addition to Ashley’s family.  Congrats Ashley, but I have a feeling that shortly you are going to really have your hands full!

Miscellaneous news:  We had 33 people at Tuesday’s networking breakfast. I’m excited to see our group continuing to grow.

Speaking of networking, our Chamber has been invited to attend a new West Valley networking group called Networking 360. The event is next Thursday, February 16th at Headquarters Bar, Grill and Sushi across from the Harkins Theater in P83, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. They already have over 30 people in their group and are looking for more to join.  Peoria Chamber members will get in FREE.  Do me a favor and if you build your business by networking please check this event out and give us a report.  They’re looking to do more with our Chamber so I would greatly value your opinion.

A BIG THANK YOU to Rosemary Rulka from Rulka Consulting, she stepped in to help us out when the US Department of Labor had to cancel on us.  Her talk on Prop 206 was very interesting and loaded with information on all the things small businesses need to know to make sure they do not get fined for being out of compliance.  Rosemary is an excellent HR consultant so if you’re not sure about your business being compliant, give her a call. You can find her information in our Chamber Directory.

Our next Mixer is February 22nd at Slicks Garage from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  This is a very fun place and I love the old Harley in the middle of the room.  More details in the right-hand column.  Slicks has a terrific outdoor patio and with the way our weather has been, it will be a beautiful evening.

If you notice a new smiling face in our office and at our events that would be Johnny Cash (yes, that’s his real name). Johnny has joined us as our new Membership Consultant.  His job is to call on potential new members and help our existing members take advantage of the great benefits we have that come with being a member of the Peoria Chamber.

27th Edition of
The Millennials Corner:

Be SMART, Set Goals for Yourself
by Emma Wolff

How do you know where you want to go if you don’t set goals? Having a few goals when starting out a business is a necessary resource in order to make your business successful. Setting goals is not the challenge. Presumably, you want to be CEO of an amazing and profitable company, right? Goal set. Mission accomplished!

Well, it is not quite that simple. Goals need to be smart – literally S.M.A.R.T. A method to beneficial goal setting is based on the acronym SMART. It stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely. In order to use this goal setting technique you should understand it.

Peoria Sports Complex New Scoreboard

Peoria Sports Complex Gets Largest Scoreboard of all Spring Training Stadiums

The Peoria Sports Complex will start the 2017 spring training season with a new scoreboard.

PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 2, 2017) – The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres partnered to bring the largest, high definition (HD) scoreboard in the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues to the Peoria Sports Complex for spring training.

“The City of Peoria is a modern and innovative city and we work closely alongside our partners to ensure the Peoria Sports Complex reflects these same traits,” said Mayor Cathy Carlat. “The new digital scoreboard is designed for dynamic viewing; and with the additional improvements to the complex, Peoria has taken the fan experience to a new level.”

The new HD scoreboard is 2,100 square feet with a video display measuring 35 feet high and 61 feet wide. The video display will feature a 13HD LED pixel layout, making it easier for fans to see the board on sunny days and from any angle in the ballpark.
