7 Ways to Set Better Goals

Most sales forces use sales goals to focus attention on what’s important and give salespeople direction about what to do. Goals energize people and encourage them to keep going. Very often, companies link sales force incentive pay to goal achievement. This makes effective goal setting essential for directing and motivating sales teams and controlling sales compensation costs.

Even in today’s data-rich environment, it’s often difficult to overcome the uncertainty inherent in goal setting. Market and economic uncertainty can make it challenging to set reasonable and fair sales goals. Setting goals for new products is especially difficult. Goal setting is further complicated by digital channels and influencers who can sway customers differently and blur salespeople’s effect on buying decisions.

If goals are too high, salespeople tend to give up.

Councilmember Leone Will Be Missed

The Peoria Chamber was saddened to hear the news this week about the passing of former Councilmember Carlo Leone.

After 20 years of service to Peoria, Carlo "Rocky" Leone passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 84. On April 16 (his birthday), Leone announced his resignation to the Peoria City Council after six terms. Carlo was elected to represent the Pine District in May 1999 and during his tenure was known for his unwavering dedication to his district and its residents, frequently visiting constituents at their homes and city or neighborhood events.

Leone lived more than 30 years in Peoria with his family and is survived by his five children, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Peoria Makes USA Today Top 10 List

The USA Today recently published an article highlighting the best places to experience the outdoors, and I am thrilled that Peoria was named one of the top 10 unique destinations. Dubbed "a small town with big personality," Peoria was the only Arizona City on the list, and was selected for its access to the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, and Lake Pleasant

We know that our city's treasure is the perfect combination of beautiful desert spaces, mountains, trails and the vast, cool waters of Lake Pleasant. Even though we might like to keep it all to ourselves, we are truly thrilled to share our amazing amenities on the national stage so more people will be able to discover why Peoria is the place to be.
