Sun Cities 4 Paws started in 1996 with three ladies who wanted to help homeless cats in the Peoria area. Since that time, Sun Cities 4 Paws has grown substantially and we are now the largest cat only, no-kill rescue in Maricopa County, rescuing on average close to a thousand cats and kittens per year.
With that growth, the need for funding grows also. Our funding comes solely from fundraisers, private donations, grants, and memberships. We do not receive aid from the state or county. Sun Cities 4 Paws is reaching out to our community partners for support to help us maintain the high level of care that we give to all the cats we intake, which includes testing and vaccinations, spay and neuter, and additional medical situations such as laboratory services, surgeries, lifelong medications and other general diagnostics. We have a network of foster homes for kittens until they are old enough to start the medical process for adoption and a foster program for our senior cats, called ‘Seniors for Seniors’ in which we place older cats in loving foster homes while continuing to pay for their medical needs.
We have included a video of our Peoria Shelter to help you envision the work and love put into the care of the cats and kittens that we intake. We are a NO-KILL shelter and provide permanent homes through adoption, fostering or lifelong sanctuary to all cats that enter our doors. In addition to the many adoptions we do at the shelter, a large number of the cats and kittens find loving homes at one of our PetSmart partner stores, located in both Surprise and Lake Pleasant.
Our website www.4pawsrescue.org is set up to keep all aware of happenings at the shelter, including available cats, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities but also as an education and information resource. Any questions, please contact Deb Heise at deb.heise@4pawsrescue.org.
