Jen and Pete Grant decided to combine their work and life experiences to open Salted Desert. Married for 15 years, Jen and Pete met at Northern Illinois University. Utilizing Pete’s critical care nursing and Jen’s massage therapy knowledge, Salted Desert offers a unique breathing experience for it’s clients. For the past decade Jen has lived with a chronic illness and has searched for natural, non-invasive treatments that led her to try salting for the first time and was convinced of the amazing benefits of salt.

Salting, or Halotherapy, is an all-natural, non-invasive treatment that has been used in Europe for decades to alleviate respiratory and skin conditions– often after one visit. Typically, salting is done in a group setting and can take up to 60 minutes. Salted Desert uses cutting edge technology to offer a full treatment in only 10-minutes because we know peoples time is valuable. This allows people to easily incorporate salting into their current health regimen.

Great for allergy, asthma, cold/sinus sufferers; athletes looking to improve endurance and performance; psoriasis, eczema, acne and skin conditions; anxiety, sleeping and general wellness are just a few conditions that have reported relief after salting. Although Pete is still a full-time critical care nurse at Mayo Clinic Hospital – he always has time to talk with our clients about their health conditions and can aid in dealing with new health changes or conditions as a health coach. When you walk in the doors at Robyn’s Nest, you may find yourself lingering at the entrance - your senses captivated. An amazing aroma drifts through the air, a combination of scents unlike any other. Custom-made chandeliers are suspended from the ceiling, inspirational and unique art decorates the walls, while tables are adorned with artisan gifts and novelty items that range from locally sourced candles to leather-bound books waiting to be filled with the next great story.

Robyn’s Nest opened in the shopping plaza at the southwest corner of Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road more than two years ago. Opening this boutique in the community that she calls home had always been the ultimate dream for owner and designer, Robyn Halperin. Today, Halperin’s years of design experience are at work helping her customers create their perfect nest.

Robyn’s Nest offers one-of-a-kind, hand-picked items from all over the world; including unique home furnishing, home décor, wall art and wallpaper, lighting, books, gifts, seasonal holiday décor and beyond. However, if you aren’t able to find what you’re looking for, don’t fret. Halperin shares that residents often bring in photos of the spaces they are looking to decorate, allowing her and her dedicated design team the chance to find the perfect piece.
Robyn knows her clientele and hosts events to bring them together in a relaxed atmosphere, such as Ladies Night – Sip and Shop. Supporting local businesses and artisans, she offers a variety of events and programs to showcase their work and bring their unique creations to an appreciative audience. “We’re better together,” Halperin shares, “the people that come here are not customers, they are our neighbors and they are our treasured friends.”
To kick off the holiday season, Robyn’s Nest introduced Seven Weeks of Christmas to highlight local artists in the seven weeks prior to the Christmas holiday. Upcoming vendors and events include Olive Oil Taste Testing and Katie Cakes Paintable Christmas Cookies, which includes in-store cookie decorating.
