A Note From Your CEO ~ Scot Andrews

Dear Peoria Chamber of Commerce Business Owner Members:

Happy New Year! Have you begun to set targets and goals for 2020? It's not too late and we can help! Our focus to help you grow and improve business outcomes, and inform our membership relative to  business legislation to be considered. For our Chamber, expect positive change always. We want your input and
our goal is to create more value for our members.  While we will be streamline all mixers and networking events, you'll see more hands on workshops where we interact in a content based way to organically grow your professional circle.  We will work side by side to capitalize on how to maximize your membership with the benefits offered through our web partner Chamber Nation, the City of Peoria, business content and our fast growing network of West Valley business owners.

Each of you has a "why" in terms of the reason you joined the Peoria Chamber. The value of the Peoria chamber is multifaceted and beyond simply events. At its foundation is being an integral part of the West Valley business community, committees making a difference, access to a database of members, leveraging the SEO impact, tools and digital presence that comes with our membership. Our website gets significant traffic and is growing. When you as business offer events, specials and content, your reach for potential attendees is expanded with this additional channel as well as our news and other digital marketing channels. It's about partnership to help you succeed and grow.

A note - If you are non-member, you may visit us once or twice. Beyond that our value proposition is for our membership. Members  make a very modest investment in the Chamber events in addition to their dues to support the business community, event locations and the goals and priorities the Chamber develops for iour members. We remain focused on the power of the "one on one" and we will focus and commit to connecting our members to other members, resources, tools, content and capabilities to help their business grow.

We are excited to begin a new year and welcome your input to help us grow this Chamber together.  It's going to be a great ride, so let's get going!

Thank You To Our Tiered Members!

Happy New Year From Your Peoria Chamber Team!

Meet Your Member - Michael Stephan Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK)

Michael Stephan was seeking to make a difference with  an organization supporting  foster children who had experienced trauma in their early years.  He moved back to Arizona with his wife Karen after 30 year career at the United Way, and made a quality of life decision to use his passion for creating positive relationships and help children at risk.

Since 1988, Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK) has been helping kids of all ages and backgrounds who are in the Arizona foster care system. In fact, over the past thirty years, AASK has placed more than 4800 foster care children into permanent homes. Each and every night more than 600 foster children sleep in AASK homes. These children come into foster care due to abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Our mission is to ensure every child in foster care in Arizona has someone who cares deeply about them. We have witnessed time and time again the immense difference it makes when a child has a committed and caring adult in his or her life. We recruit, train, and support caring adults who are building relationships with children through mentoring, adoption, and family foster care.

We also know relationships are hard work, which is why our programs and services are designed with the well-being of the entire family in mind. Our goal is to make the job of providing foster care as easy as possible. Foster families are able to step into a child's life at a stressful, overwhelming, and truly difficult time for them and provide a stable, safe relationship. In cases where adoption becomes the care plan for children in foster care, AASK can facilitate the adoption certification process as well.

In addition to traditional foster care, AASK has customized programs for families providing specialized medical foster care, kinship care and care for children with developmental disabilities. With the majority of siblings separated in foster care, we also have a program that helps siblings maintain a family relationship and strengthen the bonds between brothers and sisters.

To make a difference in the lives of foster children, please consider taking advantage of the Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit (up to $500 for single taxpayers and $1000 for couples) which reduces your Arizona state tax bill dollar-for-dollar.

You can reach Michael at mstephan@aask-az.org or 602.930.4441 (office).
