Pet of the Month
Yavapai Humane Society
Hi, my name is Luna and I’m a two-year-old pit bull mix looking for my forever home at Yavapai Humane Society. What should you know about me? I love all people! Try giving me scratches…I swear, I will melt! I am a goof ball who loves toys and still has the heart of a puppy at age 2. I can always use a good walk (who can't?) and an owner with some dog experience. I’m a champ at "sit" and love to play dress up. I’m a pewter princess and I’ll admit I’m a little selfish…I want a home all to myself. No other dogs or cats please. Call 928-445-2666 to ask for a meet and greet and talk to the dog behaviorists at YHS about my sterling silver qualities!

Each December on National Wreaths across America
Day, their mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as contemporaneous ceremonies at over 1,200 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad. It is our goal to have a wreath placed on the headstone of every hero at Prescott National Cemetery.
Once again American Legion Riders Post 6 is one of the local fundraising groups to raise funds to place wreaths at the Prescott National Cemetery. The American Legion Riders does not make any money from this; ALR 6 has again taken the "3 for 2" option -- for every 2 wreaths someone purchases (at $15 each), we will get 3 wreaths placed at Prescott National -- so we are asking any businesses or individuals who donate this year to please donate in multiples of $30.
For instructions to donate, Go to the following link: https://wreaths.fastport.com/donateLocation.html?page=19940&relate=14731

Courthouse Lighting Fundraising Campaign: Friends of Jersey Lilly
For a decade, The Friends of Jersey Lilly have generously volunteered their time and talents to fundraise for the Annual Christmas Courthouse Lighting in Arizona's Christmas City! They sell "light bulbs" which are displayed at the Jersey Lilly Saloon and collect raffle prize donations for their Kick Off Party auction which was a huge success this year! THANK YOU to all of the generous donors!
Light Bulbs are still for sale at the Jersey Lilly Saloon! Raffle tickets for the drawing will continue to be sold until December 2, 2017. The drawing takes place immediately after the Courthouse Lighting. Cash donations are still being accepted to fund the Courthouse Lighting! For information about donating to this time-honored Prescott tradition, please see the attached.
Raffle Prize Drawing: December 2, 2017 immediately following the Courthouse Lighting
Financial donations are always accepted at the Prescott Chamber of Commerce located at 117 W. Goodwin St. Prescott, AZ 86303. Please make your check payable to the Prescott Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Shop Prescot: Start Here
Summary
The City of Prescott, the Prescott Chamber of Commerce and partnering organizations recognize the importance of supporting locally based brick and mortar businesses. Therefore we have launched Shop Prescott: Start Here, a campaign designed to educate the public about the importance of supporting local businesses every day. Shop Prescott: Start Here is launching in October 2017, and will be ongoing. This is a Prescott-wide initiative that is supported by a number of organizations, and includes every business.
WHAT: Shop Prescott: Start Here is a campaign to education the public about the importance of supporting local brick and mortar businesses of all varieties.
WHY: Shop Prescott: Start Here was launched because local brick and mortar businesses have made a significant investment in our community, and are impacted by online businesses that extract money from the local economy and leave little behind. It’s time to stand up for them, and invite our residents and visitors to do the same.
WHEN: Shop Prescott: Start Here was launched in October 2017. We are launching now in time for the holidays, but this will be a 24/7/365 campaign.
HOW: Shop Prescott: Start Here will educate the public in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to:
- Window displays in local businesses
- Signs and banners throughout Prescott.
- Press releases, media alerts and radio public service announcements.
- Website and social media activities.
- Speakers bureau going out to service clubs, schools, business organizations, and meetings.
WHO AND WHERE: Shop Prescott: Start Here is a city-wide initiative. It is designed to include ALL brick and mortar businesses, from boutique stores to restaurants, hotels, dealerships, educational institutions, and service businesses.
OTHER FACTS:
- There are over 10,000 businesses in Prescott that have invested in our community.
- Every dollar spent locally recirculates several times, it’s called the multiplier effect.
- Local businesses create local jobs, donate to local causes, and create tax revenue to support high-quality public services and schools for Prescott.
- COMING SOON: ShopPrescott.net
