PAYP Events

Do you work for a local nonprofit organization or support a specific cause that is looking for volunteers? Let Prescott Area Young Professionals help! Each year PAYP receives numerous requests from local nonprofit organizations for volunteers, and this year, we want to connect with local organizations to see what needs are out there AND give our members a chance to help decide what projects to serve at this year.

In order to ensure that the commitments we make are aligned with the interests of our membership and volunteers, we have developed a 2019 bi-annual request process. We are currently accepting request for volunteers from any local non-profit organizations for events in 2019. If you are part of any local event please encourage them to submit requests here.

Requests will be accepted until March 1, so don’t delay! After all requests are received, PAYP membership will vote on which events to participate in so continue watch for updates from us via email and social media! If you have questions, please reach out to us at prescottyp@gmail.com. Want to learn more about our volunteer efforts in 2018? Head over to our website and read more from Elisabeth, PAYP's Service and Volunteer Coordinator. https://prescottareayp.org/volunteer/

Members and non-members are welcome at PAYP Events.  Please visit our Facebook Event Page - https://www.facebook.com/events/742521819427555/

YRMC: Dr. Francisco Jaume Earns Important Professional Certification

Francisco Jaume, DO, CWSP, is among a small number of physicians nationwide to earn the professional designation of Certified Wound Specialist Physician® (CWSP®) from the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM). An accomplished Wound Care Specialist, Dr. Jaume is the Medical Director of Advanced Wound Care at Yavapai Regional Medical Center(YRMC).

“Dr. Jaume’s latest achievement reinforces what we knew: that YRMC is fortunate to have such an outstanding, dedicated and caring Wound Care Specialist on our team,” said Anthony V. Torres, MD, FACP, Chief Medical Officer at YRMC. “Dr. Jaume is truly an asset to our entire community.”

According to the ABWM, successful completion of the CWSP exam is “formal recognition of a master level knowledge and specialty practice in wound management.”

The ABWM was established in 1995. The organization promotes the science of preventive care as well as the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. The ABWM monitors a national certification process and other activities dedicated to elevating the standard of care in the field of wound management.

At YRMC’s Advanced Wound Care, people with wounds that won’t heal receive a superior level of care from Dr. Jaume and the Advanced Wound Care team he leads. Dr. Jaume develops individualized patient care plans that combine the latest in wound care, a holistic approach to healthcare and preventive strategies for long term healing.

ASU Bachelor's Degree at Yavapai College

ASU@Yavapai: A partnership for student success

Arizona State University and Yavapai College have partnered together to offer bachelor degree programs in Yavapai County, beginning in 2019. Students can pursue an associate degree at Yavapai College and upon completion, transfer to the university and attend ASU classes available at two Yavapai College campuses.
Three bachelor degree programs
ASU, Yavapai College and Yavapai County community leaders identified three popular ASU degree programs that will provide students with knowledge and skills needed for career opportunities in the Yavapai community.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Health Sciences
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Organizational Leadership
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Applied Leadership

The programs will help address Yavapai County’s workforce development needs — the degree in Health Sciences will help fill employment opportunities in the ever-growing and popular healthcare fields. The Applied Leadership and Organizational Leadership programs will prepare students to be leaders in business, government and nonprofit organizations.

Students will take lower-division courses through Yavapai College, then transfer to ASU. The university courses will be taught by ASU faculty, some of whom may be community college faculty as well as professionals in Yavapai County who are qualified to teach university-level courses.

For more information please visit admission.asu.edu/transfer/asuyavapai. Students who are interested in these programs are encouraged to contact an ASU representative who can help them with the transfer process.

Balanced Funding - Take the Guesswork Out of Managing Health Insurance

Mike Tilton, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona: 5 reasons to consider a balanced funding solution

In today’s economy, providing a health plan for your employees is part of doing business. In fact, 56 percent of small firms and 98 percent of large ones offer health benefits to at least a portion of their workers, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation’s 2018 Employer Health Benefits Survey.

This makes finding the right plan even more critical. Many businesses are discovering a new way to manage their healthcare—by achieving affordability through predictability with a balanced funding health insurance solution. Balanced funding solutions are fairly new in the healthcare industry, but they’re rapidly growing in popularity. The option allows a business to pay a fixed amount each month. With balanced funding, costs don’t fluctuate throughout the year so businesses benefit from the predictability.

At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ), we recently introduced our own balanced funding solution designed for self- funded businesses with 15 or more enrolled employees. Wondering if balanced funding could be right for your organization? Here are five reasons to consider it.

  1. It’s easier on your budget. Having a fixed monthly cost takes the guesswork out of budgeting. (The only potential for cost fluctuation would be a change in enrolled employees and dependents.) What’s more, businesses may find they actually qualify for a lower fixed monthly cost than what they are currently paying.1
  2. Small businesses can save big. Large organizations aren’t the only ones that can benefit from this option. A balanced funding plan could save a small business up to 30 percent more than an Affordable Care Act small group plan.2
  3. It’s all-inclusive. With a balanced funding plan, the monthly payments you make cover everything—administrative services, stop-loss insurance and claims liability.3
  4. The potential for refunds. Here’s where the story gets even better: If annual claims are lower than expected, businesses have the ability to earn dollars back. This isn’t true of every balanced funding plan out there, some providers retain a portion of the surplus for themselves. BCBSAZ’s plan returns 100 percent of the surplus to renewing businesses.4
  5. There are no surprises. This is where having a predictable solution can really pay off. Even if your annual claims end up being more than what your business has paid, you won’t owe additional money.

BCBSAZ’s balanced funding option offers significant benefits, and there’s one more consideration you’ll want to keep in mind: service. At BCBSAZ, we’re dedicated to providing tangible results, with monthly reports that enable you to track your healthcare trends and costs throughout the year. We can also help businesses reduce costs with innovative offerings like BlueCare Anywhere, our telehealth solution. By giving members the ability to access care from their mobile devices, BlueCare Anywhere helps reduce unnecessary emergency room and urgent care visits, saving members money.

Our Concierge Model of Customer Care delivers a one-and-done solution where customer service representatives quickly and accurately provide members with answers to their questions about claims. With this level of service, as well as our reporting tools and telehealth program, we are making healthcare easier and more affordable.

Medical criteria are used to establish rates for Balanced Funded arrangements. Not all businesses will qualify.

  2. With Balanced Funding, composite rates are fixed.  Monthly payments may still change based on a business’s employee census, as employees or dependents are added or removed.
  3. Surplus is paid following plan renewal.

“Pursuing Higher Standards”

_________________________________________________________________________

Dear Valued Community Member & Business Owner,

On behalf of the Prescott High School administration we, the student rewards and motivation committee of Prescott High School, would like to ask that you please participate in helping us provide our students with initiative and compensation outside of what we are able to offer them at PHS.

As a local public high school, we are well aware and so grateful for all you do as vital community members to ensure the success of our students most of whom you know as their mom, dad, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, cousin, or lifelong family friend.

We are asking, in addition to the incredibly valuable role you currently play in the lives of our students, that you also please consider offering our students who earn a 3.0 GPA, have 2 or fewer absences and have had excellent behavior each quarter, a 15% discount with your business.

In order to claim the discount, these hardworking and dedicated students will be given the “Honorable Badger” sticker to be placed on their student ID cards as proof of their success each quarter.  Students would then show you their ID and dated sticker to receive a 15% discount at your business.

For your commitment to our outstanding students, all participating businesses will be listed on the Prescott High School website on a web page specifically dedicated to the Honorable Badger Program.  The program will also be promoted and announced to the public through our media relations coordinator.

We thank you for your consideration to participate in this program that seeks to reward the best and brightest students in our community as we strive to continue ‘Pursuing Higher Standards’.

For further details, questions, or comments please contact Matt Dean at Prescott High School at (928) 445 2322 ext. 72193 or  matt.dean@prescottschools.com

Sincerely,

Academic and Behavior Success Program Committee

The above is an example of what the discount sticker would look like.  If the student earned a discount sticker for the next quarter it would go over the top of this one and would have new valid dates.  If they did not, then this one would expire. Stickers will be controlled and distributed through the administration at PHS.

Pet of the Month

Yavapai Humane Society

Bella, a beautiful black and white domestic short hair mix, came to Yavapai Humane Society in mid-December after her owner passed away. She is a little sad but a real sweetheart to anyone who comes in and gives her some love - after all, she is a social butterfly at heart. All she needs is a new companion to help her heal and she is wanting and willing, to be that help in return. Bella is loving, kind and loves bathing in the sun. She wants that second chance to share that amazing love-bond that can only exist between human and cat. Now the only question is - are you the one?

A Quote from Bella: “I’m not just seeking to be adopted. I’m seeking that one-of-a-kind love that is found only when truly not looking. My first owner was pretty amazing and I will always love her but my heart is big and I have a place reserved just for you, my special human.”
