Community Vision Survey
APS, City of Prescott, Prescott Chamber of Commerce and Prescott Downtown Partnership recently partnered to bring a consultant, Ron Drake, to conduct a community vision session. While seating at that specific event was limited, the partnership would like to receive additional input from the Prescott business community.
We would value your input and invite you to complete our survey. Just click on the suvey link below. Please direct any questions about this survey to Haylie Smith, City of Prescott haylie.smith@prescott-az.gov

Check it out! Fundraising FUN for Heritage Park Zoo
928-778-4242
-------------------------------
Sunday kicked off our Big Fundraiser called ‘Lew Loves the Zoo!!’ We are raising funds to make it through our slow winter season while at the same time bringing awareness to the community about the zoo. We have started our 31 st year and want to let everyone know about the treasure we have here in Prescott. Lew Rees representing Courier Cares in conjunction with the Daily Courier, will be here from Sunday March 3 rd through Thursday March 7 th encouraging people to come to the zoo and help us reach our goal of raising $30,000. He will be doing ‘dirty jobs’ at the zoo and letting people know what it’s like working in a zoo and just how much work it takes to care for over 200 animals.
We have partnered with Papa John’s Pizza offering a special in which the zoo will receive $2.00 from every special ordered. The Promo Code is ZOOLOVE with this code you will receive 2 medium pizzas with 2 items and your choice of desert, for only $16.99 at the Prescott and Prescott Valley restaurants. Please order as many of these specials as you can from now until it ends on March 7 th.
We will be at the local Walmart’s this week collecting donations and will have animal friends out to visit. On Sunday the 3 rd we will be at the Prescott Valley Walmart from 10 am – 2 pm, Monday we will be at the Prescott Walmart on AZ-69 from noon – 4 pm and on Tuesday the 5 th, we will be at the Gail Garner store from noon – 4 pm. Please come by to say hi.
On Sunday March 3rd look for us in a special section in the Daily Courier all about the zoo! You will see more great information about the zoo, interviews form the staff and great insights about us.
We would like to thank the community for all of your support and look forward to a successful fundraiser and awareness campaign. We hope you will join us in helping help and care for the animals and inform new residents and uninformed residents that we have a wonderful Zoological Sanctuary right here in the Quad cities.

“Pursuing Higher Standards”
_______________________
Dear Valued Community Member & Business Owner,
On behalf of the Prescott High School administration we, the student rewards and motivation committee of Prescott High School, would like to ask that you please participate in helping us provide our students with initiative and compensation outside of what we are able to offer them at PHS.
As a local public high school, we are well aware and so grateful for all you do as vital community members to ensure the success of our students most of whom you know as their mom, dad, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, cousin, or lifelong family friend.
We are asking, in addition to the incredibly valuable role you currently play in the lives of our students, that you also please consider offering our students who earn a 3.0 GPA, have 2 or fewer absences and have had excellent behavior each quarter, a 15% discount with your business.
In order to claim the discount, these hardworking and dedicated students will be given the “Honorable Badger” sticker to be placed on their student ID cards as proof of their success each quarter. Students would then show you their ID and dated sticker to receive a 15% discount at your business.
For your commitment to our outstanding students, all participating businesses will be listed on the Prescott High School website on a web page specifically dedicated to the Honorable Badger Program. The program will also be promoted and announced to the public through our media relations coordinator.
We thank you for your consideration to participate in this program that seeks to reward the best and brightest students in our community as we strive to continue ‘Pursuing Higher Standards’.
For further details, questions, or comments please contact Matt Dean at Prescott High School at (928) 445 2322 ext. 72193 or matt.dean@prescottschools.com
Sincerely,
Academic and Behavior Success Program Committee
Tiffany Boehle
Robyn Bryce
Matt Dean
Jen Hawley
Chris Predmore
The above is an example of what the discount sticker would look like. If the student earned a discount sticker for the next quarter it would go over the top of this one and would have new valid dates. If they did not, then this one would expire. Stickers will be controlled and distributed through the administration at PHS.

YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen with Dr. Michael Macon, Medical Director of The Breast Care Center at YRMC
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Arizona, and Yavapai County has the third highest rate of breast cancer among all counties in the state. While we have no control over some of the risks for breast cancer, including family history and genetics, maintaining a healthy weight, enjoying a plant-based diet, being physically active, and scheduling regular mammograms are all steps that women can take to both prevent and detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. Dr. Michael Macon, Medical Director of the Breast Care Center at YRMC joined us recently on the set of YRMC’s Your Healthy Kitchen to share news about the excellent diagnostic tools, cutting edge treatment plans, caring staff and patient support available at the Breast Care Center. He also helped us prepare a delicious roasted cauliflower soup filled with cancer-fighting nutrients and lots of warm, satisfying flavor!
Click here to view the video: https://youtu.be/jCgzAtcbCsk
There’s no doubt that lifestyle changes help reduce the risk of breast cancer, but remember, getting regular mammograms is equally important, whether you are at increased risk of breast cancer because of family or personal history or not.
Call now, 928-442-8900, to schedule your mammogram, and remind your friends and loved ones to do the same. The Breast Care Center is located at Yavapai Regional Medical Center East, 7700 Florentine Road, in Prescott Valley.
ASU Bachelor's Degree at Yavapai College
ASU@Yavapai: A partnership for student success
Arizona State University and Yavapai College have partnered together to offer bachelor degree programs in Yavapai County, beginning in 2019. Students can pursue an associate degree at Yavapai College and upon completion, transfer to the university and attend ASU classes available at two Yavapai College campuses.
Three bachelor degree programs
ASU, Yavapai College and Yavapai County community leaders identified three popular ASU degree programs that will provide students with knowledge and skills needed for career opportunities in the Yavapai community.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Health Sciences
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Organizational Leadership
- Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Applied Leadership
The programs will help address Yavapai County’s workforce development needs — the degree in Health Sciences will help fill employment opportunities in the ever-growing and popular healthcare fields. The Applied Leadership and Organizational Leadership programs will prepare students to be leaders in business, government and nonprofit organizations.
Students will take lower-division courses through Yavapai College, then transfer to ASU. The university courses will be taught by ASU faculty, some of whom may be community college faculty as well as professionals in Yavapai County who are qualified to teach university-level courses.
For more information please visit admission.asu.edu/transfer/asuyavapai. Students who are interested in these programs are encouraged to contact an ASU representative who can help them with the transfer process.
Pet of the Month
Yavapai Humane Society
Bella, a beautiful black and white domestic short hair mix, came to Yavapai Humane Society in mid-December after her owner passed away. She is a little sad but a real sweetheart to anyone who comes in and gives her some love - after all, she is a social butterfly at heart. All she needs is a new companion to help her heal and she is wanting and willing, to be that help in return. Bella is loving, kind and loves bathing in the sun. She wants that second chance to share that amazing love-bond that can only exist between human and cat. Now the only question is - are you the one?
A Quote from Bella: “I’m not just seeking to be adopted. I’m seeking that one-of-a-kind love that is found only when truly not looking. My first owner was pretty amazing and I will always love her but my heart is big and I have a place reserved just for you, my special human.”
