About Us

"When people ask me "What is United Way?" I find my-self wondering how to answer that, because, it's a lotlike trying to describe what Superman is... not that Iwould compare our organization to the fictionalcharacter. However, I find that the attributes are similar.Obviously, Superman can mean many things to manypeople. And to each one, their meaning matters most.

Some say United Way is a non-profit organization,dedicated to doing "good" in its community. To my staffand I, that is exactly our goal and what it means to us.However, to our volunteers, it's about leadership,direction and giving back to our community - leapingtall buildings in a single bound!

To our donors it's giving to programs and services that touch their lives and the lives of their loved ones; it's about the giving of their resources in order to answer a heart-felt need - something more powerful than a locomotive!

And to our agencies, it means having programs and services available to the community,and finding sustainable funding resources to be prepared when needs arise; it's being able to get right to the heart of the matter when a disaster strikes and responding immediately - faster than a speeding bullet!

United Way is the answer to the needs in our community, because United Way is YOU!You are the super hero in our community; to my dedicated staff, our volunteers, our corporate and individual donors, and our agencies... YOU ARE "what matters. "Thank You, for your leadership, your partnership and for your support. Bless You!"
