Shop Local This Holiday Season

Plumas News

This holiday season local merchants are joining together to make it even easier to shop local. Starting in November, many of the downtown merchants will be open until 6 p.m. on Thursdays through Christmas. Many of the downtown merchants are also making an effort to be open on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. Not all businesses have the staff to be able to make Saturday hours happen, so please check with individual businesses before you make a special trip to town on Saturday.

Plumas Arts has initially rallied the support of the merchants listed here and welcomes any other local merchants to join in. The businesses involved in later Thursday hours are:

  • Quincy Provisions
  • Forest Stationers
  • Plumas Arts
  • Quincy Thrift
  • Higher Elevation Smoke Shop and Gallery
  • Emily’s Garden
  • The Toy Store
  • Feather River Outdoors
  • Main Street Gallery
  • Ugly Duckling

** many are also open Saturdays

Plumas Arts reminds residents that “now more than ever it is important to shop local, especially during the holidays. Spending your dollars locally help strengthen the local economy, helps keep our community unique, creates local jobs, and supports locally made products.”

It's Never Too Early to Sparkle!

Quincy Chamber of Commerce

Now that Halloween is over it's okay to talk Sparkle, right?  As most of you have probably heard by now, we are not able to have a live Sparkle event this year.  Fortunately, our town has always had a positive outlook, and a "come-togetherness" rarely found elsewhere.  There are lots of other things happening this year that hopefully will help fill the void.

We are working on a "virtual Sparkle"...a video that will have clips from participating businesses highlighting their Christmas goods along with short videos of our local entertainers doing what they love.  Let's not forget about a message from dear old Santa!  To participate, you'll need to contact us right away at (530) 394-0541 or info@quincychamber.com.  Space is limited and the video will take time to put together.  We're hoping to release it on Friday, December 4th (what would have been Sparkle night!).

It's Story Time!

Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association

Below are the Visit California story topics for November.  Deadline to email your story ideas to  TJ@VisitRedding.com and copy me is Monday November 9th .

Just a reminder that your story ideas should be less than 150 words.  Please don’t think you have to write a paragraph.  A story idea can simply be a sentence plus a website, photo, and contact information to follow up if the Visit California team is interested in writing about your idea.  The more story ideas we submit to Visit California when they ask for content the better chance we have of getting coverage for our area on their website and in Visit California social media posts.

The information bulleted below must be included for Visit California to consider your submission.
•             Include 1-2 high res photos with your story and the name of the photographer for photo credits
•             Story idea (maximum 150 words), not a Press Release
•             Include a public contact including name, email, and phone number

Topics for this month:

The New Normal New Year's Eve
Share the best virtual or socially distanced New Year's Eve celebrations in your destination. Please include information about Lunar New Year celebrations as well, if applicable.
