Groundog Fever Festival

Quincy Chamber of Commerce

The Groundhog Fever Festival video is coming along!  We will be announcing our new Honorary Mayor, showing off some of Chuck's greatest moments, and more!

We had so much fun with the Sparkle video and it was such a huge hit, we want to invite YOU to participate as well!

First we have the MUSTACHE CONTEST.  Anyone can enter...but who will be the BIG winner?  Your mustache can be real or fake (really?  A FAKE mustache?  Why yes!).  The contest is open to adults AND kids, so get creative and have fun!

Submit a photo of your face with your infamous stache to info@quincychamber.com before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd (that's only a week away!).  All photos will be displayed on our Facebook page @QuincyCAChamberofCommerce and the photo with the most "Likes" wins!  Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Not interested in facial hair?  We challenge YOU to come up with a fun contest of your own! The competition must be between your household members, co-workers OR done outside and meet social distancing requirements. Do you have an arm-wrestling state champ in your house? How about a thumb-wrestling queen? Can you balance a spoon on your nose for two full minutes? Have your own pie-eating contest!  Whatever it is, make it fun, creative, quirky and zany (but not dangerous!) Take a video of the contest and we might use it in our Groundhog Fever Festival video! Video length must be no more than two minutes. Email us at info@quincychamber.com and we’ll send you a DropBox link to submit your video. Video submission deadline is Friday, January 29th.

Own or run a restaurant?  You should have received an invitation to participate in our Groundhog Fever Festival Chili Cook-off by now!  Be sure to call us at (530) 394-0541 by TOMORROW (January 15th) if you're interested in participating or need more information.

On January 12, 2021, Governor Newsom announced the Regional Stay Home Order for the Greater Sacramento Region, which includes Plumas County, has been lifted effective immediately. With the stay home order being lifted, Plumas County currently falls into the Purple Tier.

Some of the modifications for the Purple Tier are as follows:

• Places of Worship: Outdoor Only with modifications
• Gyms/ Fitness Center: Outdoor Only with modifications
• Restaurants: Outdoor Only with modifications, Takeout/ Delivery allowed
• Personal Care Services: Open Indoors with Modification
• School’s may not re-open: If schools are already open then they may remain open. If schools are out on holiday break and never shut down for in-person learning then they can resume school after the holiday break.
• Curfew advisory for residents: From 10:00 pm until 5:00 am effective until December 21:

See the full order at https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/limited-stay-at-homeorder.aspx

For a full list of sectors and current industry guidance you can go to the state’s website at https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/

If the Greater Sacramento Region falls below 15% ICU bed capacity again using the state’s 4-week projection calculations, then the Regional Stay Home Order would be re-enacted. Plumas County is waiting on clarification from the state.

The healthcare system has been greatly impacted by this pandemic and in order to protect Plumas County’s healthcare systemfrom being overwhelmed we need to continue to practice the following precautions: staying at home whenever possible, wearing face coverings while in public places or while interacting with others not in your household, frequent hand washing, physical distancing and avoiding social gatherings with those not from your household. There is some light at the end of the tunnel with viable vaccines currently being administered to priority groups within 1a and certain groups in 1b. For more information regarding COVID-19 vaccine in Plumas County you can go to our website at https://www.plumascounty.us/2749/COVID-19-Vaccine
