And the Winner Is...

Quincy Chamber of Commerce

Congratulations to Krissy and her krew, who took 1st Place in this year's Groundhog Fever Festival Chili Cook-Off!

A HUGE shout-out to the four participating restaurants: Lucio's, Quincy Provisions, Quintopia and The Knook!  Thanks to their efforts, Quincy Provisions was able to donate $500 to the Quincy Volunteer Fire Department and Lucio's donated $200 to Plumas Performing Arts!

If you haven't had the opportunity yet, check out the Groundhog Fever Festival video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0QICpgd8wY&t=1087s.  Many, many thanks to Wayne Bauer, David Kitchens, James Wilson, Johny Mansell, Freddy Holman, John Steffanic, The Toy Store, the California Highway Patrol - Quincy, the Plumas County Sheriff's Department, all of our snazzy mustache contest contestants, the kids from Feather River College, Dr. Jeff Kepple, Jennifer Kaufman-Ready, the many volunteers that allowed us to use their voices, and anyone and everyone who helped make this video a success!

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship Celebrates Milestone

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

In a year filled with challenges, 2020 marked a milestone for SBTS that all of us can be excited about: celebrating 100 miles of new singletrack built with the completion of the 19-mile Cal-Ida Trail near Downieville.

Reflecting on 100 miles of trail gives some perspective on the evolution of SBTS from a small crew of three motivated men to a staff that has reached as high as 45 full-time and part-time employees with an economic impact of 2.2 million dollars in 2019. And with more than 100,000 volunteer hours logged since SBTS was founded, those 100 miles of new trail would not have been possible without all of you good people, our supporters, and our valued partners at the U.S. Forest Service.

As SBTS evolves and strengthens its partnerships with stakeholders and the greater community, the next 100 miles of new trail will come much sooner than another 17 years. Nearly 70 miles of new trail are already “shovel ready” going into 2021, including 37 miles on Mount Hough, 20 miles on Beckwourth Peak and 12 miles of new realignments and extensions on trails in Downieville.
