Artist Fellowship Grants

Plumas Arts

In case you are not yet aware, the California Art Council (CAC) is very excited about offering direct funding to artists for the first time in more than 20 years.

Here is a link to information about the grant...
https://arts.ca.gov/grant_program/individual-artists-fellowship
The CAC reports that their "direct grant opportunity for individuals, the Individual Artist Fellowships, closes on April 1, 2021. The Fellowships continue to receive a high level interest from artists across the state. We recommend applicants contact staff well in advance of the deadline to ensure they can be accommodated. Staff assistance is not available after 5 p.m. on the day of a grant deadline."

We anticipate that these will be fiercely competitive grants, but we would love to see some Plumas County artists being considered. To give yourself the best chance for a competitive application we strongly encourage you to watch the video and review the guidelines presented on the grant information link above and make contact with the CAC staff to discuss your application at your earliest convenience. The California Arts Council staff is very approachable and very interested in helping new grantees.

Feather River College Announces New Name for Stadium

Kevin Trutna

Former FRC faculty members Don Fregulia and Pete Bartels proposed naming the FRC stadium in honor of Dr. Joseph Brennan.  Through our shared-governance committee process, the recommendation came to Board, who approved the naming last year.  On March 19th Matt Warndorf and Wes Stowe hung the new sign, while ASFRC President Jesse Williams and VP George Tribble (who also both play football for FRC) visited the sign install.

We will have a formal naming ceremony in the fall when we can invite Joe's family and friends.
