About Scout Septic, Grease & Drain
Scout Septic, Grease & Drain
We started our journey by converting a 1980 Diesel Scout to run on used cooking oil. What began as a hobby to support our skiing habit and make the 70-mile commute from Portland to Mt. Hood soon evolved into sourcing oil for biodiesel and using our trucks to clean grease traps. Today, we're excited to expand our services, helping more customers while keeping Portland’s waterways clean and pristine. Contact us for a quick quote and join us in growing sustainably.
Matthew Harrison, the owner, began this venture as a hobby driven by his love for skiing. He continually sought ways to turn his passion into a career. Eventually, everything fell into place.
Matthew, an East Portland native, enlisted in the Army Reserves on January 13th, 2003. After completing his initial entry training, he pursued a degree in Marketing and Advertising Management at Portland State University. In 2007, he graduated and completed Officer Candidate School, earning a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. In 2009, Matt deployed with the 41st Brigade Combat Team, leading a convoy security element in Baghdad, Iraq. Upon his return in the spring of 2010, he used his deployment savings to bootstrap his hobby into a business.
