About Us

Lorton Community Action Center (LCAC) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged families and children in the Lorton, Virginia area. We have been providing food, clothing, emergency assistance and community outreach programs to the citizens of Lorton, Virginia and the surrounding areas for almost 35 years. Our mission can be broken down into two categories - assistance and outreach. LCAC provides emergency assistance to individuals and families to keep them from becoming homeless and to improve their quality of life. LCAC's outreach programs help to prepare children and families for the future. Our services are geared toward assisting families to "make it on their own." Our goal is to help families to improve their lives while assisting them toward self-sufficiency.

LCAC ‘Assistance Programs’ include food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, information and referral, and seasonal assistance. Our ‘Outreach Programs’ include individual counseling and assistance, classes in English as a Second Language, nutrition classes, pro-bono legal services and programs for children and youth.

LCAC provides services and programs to the people living in the following zip codes: 22079, 22199, 22122, and the southern portion of 22060.
