President's Corner

Stacy Beck

As we wrap up our summer events and activities, one would think we might be slowing down. No, not with our chamber! Just last week we had our annual Summer BBQ with chamber members and their significant other, and two days later was the 2nd Play Unpugged Party.  This Saturday our chamber will be involved with the Harvest Moon Hurrah, at the city park.  At 4 pm we will be giving away 1,000 pumpkins to kids to decorate with fun faces that the chamber is donating.  If you are available for any amount of time between 4-6 we invite you to join us!  What amazes me still to this day is the amount of volunteerism and donations that so many of you so willingly give.  It’s inspiring, and encouraging to continually do better and help in giving back to our wonderful communities.  Thank you!

Executive Director Message

Clark H. Caras

Having just finished our second year with Play Unplugged in which we are trying to get everyone, kids especially, to stay away from their digital devices, emails, texts, and games for a bit of time, this message is going to sound a bit contradictory.  So, with that said, I’ll apologize and volunteer for next year’s dunk tank and give Lance Wilson a bit of a break from everyone lining up to see him get all wet.
With the dramatic growth in the Spanish Fork Salem Area Chamber of Commerce – at an all time high for membership in the past four years – it should come as no surprise to anyone with the growth is going to come a huge need and demand for communication, both from the chamber office and from member to member.
And despite what we try to teach with Play Unplugged, I am asking a couple of things of all the emails.  First, and foremost; please read the emails from the chamber office and scroll all the way to the bottom for all of the details.  And if you’re willing to do that, then we are going to make a promise of trying to be as brief as possible.

September's Business of the Month

Congratulations South Utah Valley Animal Shelter! An old saying that is appropriate to this Spanish Fork Salem Area Chamber of Commerce member is, “Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened. Located at 582 West 3000 North, Spanish Fork, and a member of the Play Unplugged family this summer, this facility and group of staff and volunteers can help match you or a member of your family to the pet that is just right to go into your home. For more information call 801-851-4080.  Thank you to Macey's for the beautiful cake, and to SF17 for filming!

The Chamber's Annual Summer BBQ

The annual Chamber of Commerce BBQ was fantastic! This year held in Salem, with grilled steak, corn on the cob & dutch oven bananas foster. After an amazing dinner, we enjoyed some great entertainment from our board member Brady Amundson, with his crew from Crowdsourced Comedy!

Meet the Candidate's Night!

There are four people running for Spanish Fork City Council this year.

Play Unplugged Summer Party!

The Play Unplugged party Saturday was a success! We want to thank all the businesses who donated so much of their time and money to make this year great. Thank you parents for joining our community in getting our kids unplugged from technology and out playing and creating. The $25,000 grant was awarded by State Farm Insurance, which we are excited that this will help fund the program in coming years! Lots of food, prizes & games were awarded.

Schedule Change for Noon Networking Luncheon

Stacy Beck

Please note the date change for our September Noon Networking.  It will be the 23rd at the High Chaparral.  As a chamber we feel it is important to offer as much insight and answers as possible to the proposed LIFE CENTER that will be on this November’s ballot.  We have scheduled several department heads from SF City to share with us what is on the proposal and how that will impact businesses.  There will also be time for Q&A’s.

It was a beautiful day at the ribbon cutting, and we're excited to have them be part of the Chamber! And a great big thank you to Costco for providing the delicious cake!
