2011 Board MembersExecutive Board Mike Mendenhall - President Cary Robarge - Vice President Cary Hanks - Chamber Director Board Members Representatives | National Venturing Crew President Jennifer Lowe & President Obama
National Venturing President Jennifer Lowe, of Spanish Fork, is among a delegation of only nine Scouts from around the nation who are getting an “insider’s view” of Washington this month.
On Monday she presented the Boy Scouts of America’s annual Report to the Nation to Speaker of the House John Boehner. This was the speaker’s first time accepting the report in his new role. Presentations are also scheduled to be made to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. From there, the Scouts embark on an incredible week which includes scheduled visits with top officials, such as CIA Director Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense and Eagle Scout Robert Gates and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Trips will be made to the White House, Pentagon, Supreme Court and Secret Service — just to name a few. While in the nation’s capital, Jennifer is proudly representing nearly 3 million young people who make up the Scouting program. (Daily Herald, 02/15/2011) Jennifer Lowe is a founding member of the Venturing Crew 1532. This group of young scouts are sponsored by the Spanish Fork Salem Area Chamber of Commerce as the Charter organization. We are so proud of these young people and especially proud of Jennifer. Jennifer is the National Venturing President. Congratulations Jennifer! Thanks for representing Spanish Fork so well nationally and locally! Utah Micro Enterprise Loan Fund
Governor's Department of Economic Development Over the past sixteen years, the Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund has worked in partnership with members of Utah's financial banking community to help launch or expand more than 590 small businesses across the state. Through our loans ($1,000-$25,000), we've been able to help people with low to moderate incomes supplement their earnings. We've helped women find the flexibility they need to balance their work and families. We've worked with child care providers to increase the number of children they are able to have in their care. We've also helped minorities, immigrants and people who have been injured in the workplace find economic security through ownership and operation of their own small businesses. Whether a small business is a sole source of income or a crucial supplement, Utah microenterprise loans help provide the necessary capital to put individuals and families on the road to greater self-sufficiency. Working together with our clients and our financial partners, we build healthier families, stronger communities and most of all -- brighter futures.

Lana Creer Harris, Daily Herald Sunday, February 27, 2011 "We still exist,” says Mike Stone, second-generation owner and pharmacist of Stone Drug on Spanish Fork Main Street. Stone Drug, the last of its kind on Main Street, is celebrating more than 50 years in business. The drug store has a lot going for it — take modern equipment add old fashioned customer service plus nostalgia and a full service fountain and you get Stone Drug. Stone says his store is frequented by people who live in the older parts of town, but he wishes newer residents on the east side of town would come down to Main Street and check out his drugstore.
