Utah Business.Com A new report from the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) offers a roadmap to recovery based on economic performance trends from states over the last 10 years. Author Dr. Arthur B. Laffer and his co-authors, Stephen Moore, senior economics writer at The Wall Street Journal, and Jonathan Williams, director of the Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force for ALEC, found that, “states with a high and rising tax burden are more likely to suffer through economic decline, while those with lower and falling tax burdens are more likely to enjoy robust economic growth.” Top Five States read more... Easter Egg Hunt
It is almost time for the Annual Chamber Easter Egg Hunt. This year's hunt will be held on April 3rd at 9am. at the Spanish Fork Sports Complex on Volunteer Drive. The Spanish Fork Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is once again proud to be able to host this event with help from local area businesses who generously donate items, time and money to provide a fun event for our local young children. We appreciate these fine businesses and individuals who provide the egg stuffers, grab bags, toys, prizes, and bikes that we give away each year. We will have 10,000 eggs this year stuffed full of candy and coupons to local businesses.

THE UTAH DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (UDOT) THE UTAH DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (UDOT) is getting started on one of the largest roadway projects in the state’s history—restoring and expanding I-15 from Lehi to Spanish Fork. I-15 CORE will rebuild aging infrastructure and improve the movement of goods and services throughout the state. UDOT and the project contractor have plans in place to limit road and lane closures, but there will be times when construction could cause significant travel delays.

Cary Hanks The Rotary Club of Spanish Fork and the Spanish Fork/Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, April 29, 2010. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the Spanish Oaks Golf Course at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. Local area businesses have donated items for prizes, raffles, and awards for the golfers and spectators. The Nebo Economic Summit will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 8:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Payson Stadium Cinemas. The Payson, Spanish Fork/Salem Area, and Santaquin Chambers of Commerce are hosting this economic summit. Governor Gary Herbert, Financier Spence Eccles, and economist Josh Romney will be speaking at this event. Local area businesses will have booths to promote their products and services. Break out sessions and workshop on UDOT I15 Core Project, Nebo School District Plans, Health Insurance Legislation, Nebo Loop Information, Elberta Expansion Plans, and more. Local area City Mayor's and Managers will be on hand to discuss their economic plans for their communities. Come out and see what South Utah County has to offer as we Moving Forward in 2010.
