Sierra Northern Railway (reporting mark: SERA) is a short-line freight railroad with over 170 miles of track in California. Operations take place in Contra Costa, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Ventura, and Yolo Counties with Headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. The Ventura Division is the newest line. Operations began on January 1, 2022, after a competitive bid process by Ventura County Transportation Commission which owns the Santa Paula Branch Line. The line extends from Montalvo Wye at Milepost 403.00 to the track's end in Piru at Milepost 432.00.
Sierra Northern Railway's Ventura Division is based in Santa Paula and operates freight trains, movie, and production trains, as well as assisting our sister company, Mendocino Railway in providing world-class excursion and entertainment operations.
