About Consumer's Lumber
Consumer's Lumber
Consumer's Lumber Company, established in Spirit Lake in 1906 and operating at the same location since its inception, has been a trusted provider of quality lumber and building materials for over a century. Originally encompassing multiple yards across Iowa and South Dakota, the company underwent strategic consolidations in the 1920s, focusing its operations primarily within Dickinson County. Through subsequent decades, Consumer's Lumber Company experienced growth and evolution, expanding its reach during the 1930s to include yards in Spirit Lake, Montgomery, and Superior, under the leadership of figures such as Ben A. Webster and Charles F. Lindquist. Key milestones, including acquisitions and the establishment of Citation Homes in 1966, solidified the company's reputation for excellence and reliability.
In the 21st century, Consumer's Lumber Company navigated ownership transitions and strategic realignments, with Jim Johnson and Rod Lange assuming control in 2002 and subsequently expanding the company's presence with the acquisition of Spencer Lumber in Spencer, Iowa. Following a rebranding to Consumer's Lumber Company, Jamie Storey and Jason Lorenzen took over in 2016, ushering in a new era of leadership while upholding the core values of integrity, excellence, and teamwork. Today, with a dedicated team of experienced professionals, Consumer's Lumber Company remains committed to serving its customers with the highest standards of quality and service, ensuring that it continues to be the preferred choice for all lumber and building material needs in the Spirit Lake area and beyond.
