About Us

Located on South Main Street in Historic St. Charles, we are certain you will enjoy your visit to our area. Our Building is on the National Register of Historic Places and was built by slaves in about the year 1815 for Thomas Lindsey. The 24 inch thick stone walls are made of Burlington limestone. Our talented craftsmen, who make many of the wonderful stained glass items on display also work in the store and teach various classes that are available. Browse in our showroom, and your mind will be overflowing with ideas of all the beautiful glass pieces you can learn to make or commission Julie to make for you.
The Glass Workbench stocks an extensive line of supplies, tools and glass for the glass craftsman and hobbyist. With over 500 colors of glass, some of our customers even complain that we have too many colors to choose from. Others just say that we have more glass than they have ever seen in one store. Come and visit, we are here to serve you seven days a week.
