About Us
The Centre is a nonprofit organization that serves over 2,000 individuals each year with programs such as individual and family counseling, employment preparation for women, substance abuse treatment, out-of-school programs for girls, and major home repairs and rehabs for low-income seniors. The Centre is accredited by the Joint Commission and has served over 60,000 people in Hillsborough County since its founding in 1977.
Our Programs
The Centre for Girls
Provides a safe place with no weekly fees for girls ages 10-18 to go after school, on school holidays and during the summer with activities that are fun and educational.
Family Services
Offers professional counseling on a sliding scale fee basis for individuals, couples, and families. Therapy can be provided for children, adolescents and adults and usually involves some of the following issues: anxiety, depression, parent/child conflicts, personal relationships, and anger management.
Project Recovery
Provides gender-specific evaluation and treatment for women 18 and older who have substance use disorders. Women learn how to live a substance-free lifestyle.
ElderLink
Supervises volunteers who provide seniors with in-home non-medical support services such as yard clean-ups and code correction.
BRITE
Provides in-home assessments and health education programs for individuals 60 and over who may have problems with medication misuse and/or alcohol or other drug use.
Employment Services
Helps women develop career plans, learn job preparation skills, build problem solving skills and assists women in securing employment.
Senior Home Improvement Program (SHIP)
Provides home repairs and rehabs for low-income seniors ages 60 and over. These major repairs include weatherization, window and door repairs, replacing rotted flooring and wheelchair ramp construction that enable seniors to continue living independently in their own homes.
AfterHours
Provides evening treatment for individuals at risk for substance dependence who
may have experienced the negative consequences of substance use such as
a DUI charge. This program is also an ideal complementary therapy for adults who
receive medical treatment to reduce and eliminate their dependence on pain killers.
