"Edwin Chutt, operator of a crop dusting plane, pleaded guilty to charges of failure to grant right of way and was fined $50. SHeriff D.S. Hudson said Chutt claimed the plane developed mechanical trouble and he was attempting to land on the Moultrie-Sumner paved road. As he was nearing the ground the wing of his plane struck and broke the windshield of a car driven by Mrs. H.B. Tomkins.

News From Worth Elections!

Hello to all of our Worth County voters!

Early Voting for the November 3rd election will start Oct. 12 and end on Oct. 30. There will be Saturday voting on Oct. 24 9am - 4pm.

This is a general election so you will not be required to choose a party.

You can register to vote now until October 5th.

Absentee ballots will not be sent out until after September 15th. Sample ballots will be available also.

If you receive an absentee ballot application in the mail... they are valid but that does not mean that our office sent it to you. There are groups around Georgia who help get the word out and try to get everyone to vote. If you have already submitted an application simply throw away the one you received in the mail or pass it to a friend.

Starting September 15th we will have a dropbox outside the courthouse for you to drop off your absentee ballot or applications.

As always our office is here to answer any questions you may have.

The Oakfield and Warwick precinct will be combined again for the November election. We have made some adjustments to make shorter wait times. These are the only precincts with adjustments. All of the other precincts will remain the same and open. We appreciate your patience and understanding the midst of this pandemic. Stay safe as we secure your votes!

Georgia Peanut Festival Updates

For over 50 years, the Georgia Peanut Festival has been a premier event in Southwest Georgia. This year, due to growing concerns for the safety of our visitors, volunteers, and vendors, the committee has made the difficult decision to cancel ALL activities planned for the remainder of the year. The decision to cancel was not made lightly or spur of the moment. The committee has closely monitored information from the Governor, our local health department, and other entities for several months. Please know that while our hearts are saddened for 2020, we are also excited to begin work on next year’s festival. Please plan on joining us in October 2021.
