Today's Weird Holidays!

Every Tuesday, we will be sharing what the day's weird holidays are!

National Brandied Fruit Day

National Youth Day

National Pharmacy Technician Day

Throw Back Tuesday

Every week, the Sylvester Local has a section in their newspaper called "Looking back through the Years". This section showcases different events that happened on certain days many years ago. Every week, we will be showcasing parts of their section in our newsletter!

100 Years Ago - October 15, 1920

"An advanced sewing exhibit for the Worth County Girls Club has been set up. Girls that participate can bring the clothing that they sew to the office at 10 o'clock on Friday, Oct. 22, 1920. The best pieces will be taken to Albany on Saturday to be entered in the fair there.

The Albany Fair is set to take place on October 25-30. There will be a showcase of cattle, swine, horses, mules, sheep, goats, and poultry. There will also be horse racing, along with circus acts, and fireworks!

The J.R. Forest Store on Isabella Street in Sylvester offers a clothing sale, advertising shows starting at $2.98, shirts for $1.19, men's work pants for $1.75, and wool fabric, just $1.25 per yard."

If you'd like to see more from the Sylvester Local, please visit their website here. You can also subscribe to the Sylvester Local by calling them at (229) 776 3991.
