Business over Brunch "BOB"
The Tazewell Area Chamber of Commerce is beginning a Business over Brunch “BOB” in April. The meetings will be held monthly on the third Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00. This is a good opportunity to learn about other companies and organizations in our own backyard and to get ideas on how to run your business. Each participant will get a chance to introduce themselves and the business they represent. This is a great time to bring your business card and marketing materials to distribute. There will be a speaker at each meeting. Registration is required – there is a $5 charge which includes lunch.
The first “BOB” will be on Wednesday, April 15th, and held at the Tazewell Chamber. Commissioner of Revenue, David Anderson, will be the speaker for the April meeting. Lunch is provided by Subway. RSVP Required. For more information or to RSVP call 276-988-5091 or info@tazewellchamber.org.

A Word From the President
Bob Buchanan Our annual meeting is over and it has been cold and snowy outside, so it was a good time to sit by the fire and reflect on the past year and the plans for the upcoming year. It’s almost like planning your garden for the spring, full of hope and promise but knowing there will be dry spells and pesky insects and deer.
I can’t help but think of the leaders from our community that we lost in February. Bob Brittain and Jack Chambers were not only good friends of mine, but I learned so much from these gentlemen. I was able to observe them in the boardrooms and in the work sites and how they dealt with employees and coworkers. This has been an ongoing learning experience for me for the past twenty-five years. I have been truly blessed.
Who will be our leaders be in the future? Are the actions that we’re taking today in our personal and business life influencing a future leader? Obviously we influence each other in some respects. Let’s hope that it is all positive. Our civic organizations, Lions and Rotary clubs, are excellent ways to enhance leadership skills. They are great organizations that give back to community. We all need to encourage growth of these organizations, but sadly their membership base is declining.
The Tazewell Chamber is also a great organization to build leadership and organizational skills. The Chamber is there to give back and to support our business community. We are very fortunate to have an outstanding chamber board who knows the value of hard work and how to work as a group to achieve a common goal. Each of our Board members wants to see Tazewell grow and prosper. I am sure on this board will be some of our future leaders.
