Counties Emerge from Stay at Home Order

In Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties we are happy to report that many restaurants, businesses, barber shops, beauty salons, gymnasiums and even a movie theater have begun to reopen including The Mall at Sierra Vista! How many reopen will depend on how businesses can keep employees and customers safe and the overall customer confidence in once again going out of their homes.

As more communities begin to reopen, we will continue to report on their progress.  We are all anxious to get back to some type of normalcy but given the magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will have to take baby steps to get back to some semblance of normalcy. To be sure, we all have a role in doing this by continuing to take the necessary precautions in order to stay safe and healthy!

News about the Southeast Arizona Communities!

Dan Valle - SAHCC Regional Director

Governor Ducey has lifted the order to stay at home, and now businesses are working to reopen throughout Arizona.

Tombstone will be reopening this coming weekend and it, along with Bisbee have been among the hardest hit due to their dependence on tourism which came to a halt in March.  I personally went to Tombstone today to check on how businesses are adjusting.  I witnessed that most in the communities are practicing social distancing and require their customers to wear masks when entering their establishments.  In some cases, where the customer is not wearing a mask, they will provide them with one or in other cases, sell them one.  Overall, safety protocols were being observed in the communities.     However, it is important to note the Mayor of Tombstone, is still not allowing events to take place until things get better.

The role of businesses –
Every business owner has the responsibility to keep their employees and customers safe.  However, not every business will open exactly as they used to operate.  They are working to reconfigure their business to conform to new standards.
Our role as individuals –
We have the responsibility to protect ourselves and our family.  Continuing to wear masks in public, carrying hand sanitizers and making the decision to patronize a business will be ours alone.
