Weekly Update: July 2019

Business of the Month

Community Events

Kaolin Festival is fast approaching, and the Chamber has a fun, unique opportunity for members to participate and advertise to parade goers! This year, we would like to feature mascots for local businesses marching in the parade. This is a great opportunity, and what your mascot passes out as they walk is per your discretion. Contact us if you would like for a representative of your company, dressed in a themed outfit, to join the festivities! Thank you! Parade applications are available and ready for you!

Washington County intersection upgrades awarded

SANDERSVILLE - Significant state highway intersection renovations are set for Washington County.

Moye Electric Company was awarded a $1.67 million contract for traffic signalization updates using the latest pedestrian facility improvements to include countdown pedestrian signals, ADA wheelchair ramps and crosswalk striping. Five locations are included in the scope.
  • State Route (SR) 15 @ the Fall Line Freeway (FLF)
  • FLF @ Linton Road
  • FLF @ Deepstep Road
  • SR 15 @ McCarty Street
  • SR 15 @ Adams Street
Existing strain poles and vehicle detection will be replaced. Cellular 4G modems will be installed at each intersection, allowing these intersections to be monitored and controlled via a remote location as necessary. No additional lanes will be added during this project.

Other work will include the realignment to SR 15 at McCarty Street, removal of the striped island and signal pole and restriping of the pedestrian crosswalk. Also, additional pavement will be required in the FLF median to accommodate a pedestrian crosswalk.

Information on lane closures and schedules will be sent in advance of construction activities.
