Civil War Encampment and Tours

Tours at 1 PM and 6 PM
Reproduction of a Civil War soldier camp with era style tents and campfires. Exhibits include Civil War weapons, canon firings, artifacts and more. Reenactors in period attire will demonstrate what life was like at the 12,000 Year History Park during the Civil War.
Tours of the Battlefield are also available at 1:00 p.m. and a lantern tour at 6:00 p.m.
Tours include stops along the way where you’ll hear stories of the soldiers about life at the 12,000 Year History Park. You’ll also see the Congaree Creek Earthworks that were built in 1865 and is the site of brisk fighting during the Battle of Congaree Creek.
This is a great day to bring the kids to learn about the life of a soldier and our local history. They will hear how the Earthworks were built as well as stories about the famous battle. Canons will be fired during some demonstrations! All activities are interactive. Conversation and questions are welcome.
All activities including tours are free. No registration required.
