Biz Aware

Biz Recycling - Did you Know

Preventing materials from going in the trash by recycling them instead may save your business money. By “right-sizing” your trash service to reflect the smaller volume of trash generated, your garbage bill will probably be less. This is because reducing the size of your dumpster or its frequency of pickup will reduce what you pay for trash service and, in turn, the amount you pay for the County Environmental Charge and Minnesota Solid Waste Management Tax.

In addition, creating less trash can save money through:
  • Avoided purchase costs through waste prevention
  • Avoided service costs by using fewer or smaller trash bins
  • Potential hauler discounts for separate collection of organic waste
  • Safer work environment with lighter trash bags
Watch this short video from the National Restaurant Association about saving money by tracking your waste. Click on the links for cost-savings worksheets on cost comparisons for loose trash in dumpsters and compacted garbage.
