Biz Aware

Biz Recycling - Did you Know?
SPECIAL RECYCLING: HOSPITAL SETTING
According to Health Facilities Management, a publication of the American Hospital Association, the vast majority of hospital waste comes from traditional recycling materials. In fact, hospital waste streams average 75% traditional recycling, while only 25% come from biological and hazardous waste. This means that hospitals are generating a lot of plastic, paper and cardboard.

This matters because hospitals are large – employing hundreds to thousands of people while having similar amounts of patients and visitors coming daily. Hospitals are also unique in that most people coming into the hospital are not thinking about recycling at all. Patients and staff are busy, and are moving frequently between rooms, waiting areas and departments. Continue reading HERE.
