Guest Speakers
Paul Gazelka, Senate Majority Leader
Chuck Wiger, Senator Chuck Wiger (District 43)
Your Chamber has scheduled a legislative session wrap-up with guest speakers, Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka and Senator Chuck Wiger. While the White Bear Area communities were able to secure bonding for number of worthy projects, the important tax bill was vetoed by the Governor. There needs to be a special session in order to pass a tax bill that is compatible with the federal tax law. It’s important to advocate for a tax bill approved that will be passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor.

This will be your opportunity to informally talk to our local elected officials and network with other business people. The event is free to attend and a full continental breakfast will be served. Space is limited and registration is required HERE.

Driverless Taxis in White Bear Lake

Key's Cafe Upstairs Conference room
2208 4th Street, White Bear Lake

Guest Speaker
Frank Douma, Director, State and Local Policy Program

Driverless Uber service is now a mainstay in Pittsburg, PA, Las Vegas, NV and Boston, MA. Within our neighboring states, Iowa Cita, IA and Madison, WI have begun the process to bring driverless vehicles to their communities. In the near future, this revolution in transportation options could become standard practice in many Minnesota communities.

During the luncheon, we will discuss the potential for bringing driverless taxi services to downtown White Bear Lake. During the meeting, we will hear about the opportunities and the challenges for this transportation innovation and welcome your thoughts and questions.

The only charge for this program will be the cost of your lunch. Seating is limited and your registration is required HERE.

Rethink Recycling

DU FRESNE MANUFACTURING
A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF RECYCLING SOLUTIONS MAKING A DIFFERENCE AND SAVING MONEY!

Du Fresne Manufacturing Co. has been an industry leader in the precision metal fabrication industry for over 27 years. Located in Vadnais Heights, MN, Du Fresne Manufacturing has a strong commitment to their 100+ employees as well as having a vision to be leader in sustainability. Du Fresne Manufacturing established a corporate green team back in 2013. Our Recycling Expert conducted a site visit and provided recommendations on key ways to reduce their trash. The green team added new color coded and labeled recycling bins, replaced plastic disposable water bottles provided for employees with reusable bottles and started collecting plastic film. A grant from BizRecycling helped them to purchase all the needed materials.

All of these strategies really paid off! Du Fresne reduced their trash dumpster from 12 to 8 yards because of the reduction in plastic film. This one change cut $600 annually off their trash bill and helps them divert 1,260 pounds of plastic film from the trash. The outcome was so great, they started collecting plastic film at a second facility. Click HERE and sign-up for an on-site visit today!

Remember to Recycle!
