White Bear Area Chamber Tariff Resolution

After gathering input from many chamber members, the White Bear Area Chamber passed a resolution on tariffs. The resolution is a different approach to trade negotiations and also takes into account the agreements reached with Canada and Mexico.
***************
WHEREAS; more than $2.2 billion in Minnesota exports are at risk due to an escalating trade war; and
WHEREAS; Minnesota companies exported $20.6 billion in goods in 2017, which included $2.4 billion to China; and
WHEREAS; over 95% of the world’s consumers live outside of the United States, representing 80% of global purchasing power; and
WHEREAS; international trade has generated substantial new opportunities for workers, consumers and businesses in White Bear Lake and across the nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that:
The White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce opposes efforts to restrict international trade without congressional approval. This includes tariffs on steel, aluminum, autos and auto parts and other products, important to the businesses and consumers in our community.

Rethink Recycling

Food-to-Compost or Organics Recycling
With organics recycling, all food waste, fat, bones, paper towels, and food stained paper can be collected in one bin. This means that food scraps can be recycled along with paper towels, soiled paper napkins, coffee grounds and filters, etc. Although food does not need to be sorted from paper, liquids cannot be combined with organics recycling. Diverting organics from your waste stream can also reduce taxss and fees on waste disposal and save money on trash hauling fees. Learn more about organics recycling here. We'd love to help your business. Contact us to get started!
