The legalization of recreational marijuana in Minnesota could   become a reality, as early as this year. While there are many social aspects to this debate, the issue that has hardly been discussed relates to the impact of marijuana usage on employee policies, overall employee productivity, and other factors affecting the workplace itself. Mr. Curtis Graves, Esp. SPHR, of the Colorado Employer’s Council will share insights on these, and other, topics that Colorado businesses have addressed since 2014 when marijuana became legal in their state.

The cost to attend this luncheon is $35 for Chamber Members and $45 for Non-Chamber Members. Space is limited and registration is required.

Rethink Recycling

So what exactly is the Solid Waste Management Tax based on? Good question! The Solid Waste Management (SWM) Tax applies to services for both mixed municipal solid waste and non-mixed municipal solid waste. The tax is based on the sales price charged by the provider. For commercial (non-residential) accounts, the SWM Tax is 17%. The SWM Tax does not apply to recyclable materials including paper, glass, plastics, metals, source-separated organics, automobile oil, batteries, and other materials that are separated from solid waste for the purpose of recycling.
