White Bear Area Chamber's Advocacy in Action!

The White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce has been and will continue our strong campaign advocating for for the safe reopening of all businesses! This week, the White Bear Area Chamber joined over 70 local chambers around the state of Minnesota, urging Governor Walz to consider a prompt and objective approach to the safe opening of businesses. We encourage you to read the Small Business Letter to Governor Walz  in it's entirety.

"As chambers of commerce, we stand ready to help ensure our members are  prepared to open – that they have instituted health and safety protocols for their  workers and customers and have a preparedness plan in place. We are confident in  their ability to do the right thing and are working with them, each and every day to  understand and employ best practices. In fact, we believe if allowed, will do it  equally as well as their larger counterparts. It’s time to get Minnesota moving again,  in the safest way possible for employees and customers, while protecting  businesses of all size. Minnesota’s long-term economic future
is counting on it."

If you haven't already, NOW is the time to rethink your operations and plan for your reopening. Have all of your protocols written, your plans in place and your employees trained. It is not required, but we encourage you to share with the public what you have done and how you did it. Use your customer database and social media to show the changes that you have made to your facilities and explain how you are ready to safely reopen. We would be happy to help you with this! Send us your plans and we'll get them on our website as well! Together, we will rebound!

WEDNESDAY - California Cars Rules and the impact on Minnesota

At Issue: California Cars Rules and the impact on Minnesota
Guest Speakers: Scott Lambert, Minnesota Auto Dealers Association
Wednesday, May 13th | 8:00am - 9:00am

In a virtual meeting platform, the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association will be addressing the White Bear Area Chamber regarding the California Cars Rules that is slated to be imposed in the state of Minnesota. Governor Walz is in support of the low and zero emissions vehicles standards and seeks to implement them through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
Topics that will be discussed include:
  • Bypassing legislation to impose the regulation through the MPCA
  • The price of all new cars in the state will increase from $800 to $2,500 per vehicle.
  • Dealers could only trade for California cars.
  • Fewer trucks would be delivered to Minnesota.
  • Dealerships would be stuck with inventory they couldn't move.
  • It would be regulated by a group of people not accountable to anyone in Minnesota.
We look for a great discussion on this topic and welcome your comments and questions at the end of the program. Registration is required and you will be sent a link to the meeting one day prior to the event.

For additional information on this topic please visit: The Government Affairs committee will have a separate meeting with the Minnesota Pollution Agency at a later date
